First, he’s joined by John Middlekauff, host of “3 and Out”.
They start with the shorthanded 49ers beating the Eagles on the road and Colin argues the gap in coaching ability between Kyle Shanahan & Nick Sirianni is massive. He credits Brock Purdy for overcoming two interceptions & finding ways to win the game despite several mistakes and John calls it one of the worst playoff losses of all time for the Eagles (2:30). Then, they move to college football & discuss why the era of SEC dominance is over due to NIL(25:00).
Then, he’s joined by college football guru Josh Pate to preview the College Football Playoff Championship between Indiana and Miami.
Colin predicts that unlike Oregon & Alabama, Miami’s defense should be disruptive and be able to keep Indiana from a point total in the 30s or 40s (33:00). They preview Lane Kiffin’s upcoming tenure as coach at LSU and debate whether adding Kiffin will actually bring titles to Baton Rouge (36:00).
Finally, they debate whether they’d tweak the NIL or transfer portal if given the chance and Josh argues for classman pay scales similar to what exist in the NFL and why that would help fix problems with the portal and that the “wild wild west” era of college football is bound to end soon (38:30).
