The conversation explores the significance of the 1780 Battle of Kings Mountain, where Patriot forces defeated British and Loyalist troops during a pivotal period of the Revolutionary War. Inman discusses how the production portrays the settlers of the Carolinas and surrounding regions who were drawn into the conflict after initially hoping to avoid the fighting.

He also explains the use of historical figures, including his ancestor Colonel James Williams, alongside fictional characters and composite families representing people who settled in the region. Inman says the production is designed to combine historical accuracy with live action and entertainment, with the battle unfolding both onstage and throughout the audience.
