Brett kicks off the program by being joined by Michael Whatley to talk about the 2026 North Carolina Senate race and Roy Cooper’s record on criminal justice. During the interview, Whatley discussed his campaign’s criticism of Cooper over a 2021 settlement that resulted in thousands of inmates being released early. Whatley cited recent reporting about individuals released under the agreement and argued that Cooper should be held accountable for the policy. Cooper has defended the releases, saying the state was required to follow a court order and disputing Republican claims about the individuals connected to subsequent crimes.

Later Brett discusses the alleged FBI cyberattack involving the hacking group ShinyHunters, examining claims that the group accessed sensitive information belonging to FBI employees and applicants. ShinyHunters claimed it compromised the FBI’s jobs portal and obtained a much broader collection of data, while a sample reviewed by 404 Media reportedly included information on approximately 5,000 alleged FBI agents, including names, addresses, phone numbers and details involving spouses.

The FBI has confirmed it is aware of claims involving unauthorized activity affecting FBIjobs.gov and said it is actively investigating. The bureau also said the point of the breach remains undetermined and that it is working with third-party providers to mitigate potential risks.
