Brett kicks off the program by talking about the Democratic Socialists of America’s push for higher taxes and the idea that those who advocate for expansive government programs should be willing to help pay for them themselves. Brett argues that supporters of socialism should not simply demand that working Americans fund their vision, but should instead lead by example and voluntarily contribute more of their own money. He sarcastically proposes a “super supporter socialist surtax,” joking that 70%, 80%, or even 90% might not be enough for those who want universal government-funded benefits.
