View descriptionShare

Tune in here to this Tuesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show!

Brett kicks off the program by talking about the importance of remembering 9/11 and the responsibility to teach younger generations about the events and sacrifices of that day. Reflecting on his time speaking with students at Holy Trinity, Brett emphasizes that 25 years later, the courage displayed by firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel and ordinary Americans must never be forgotten. He honors the 40 passengers and crew members aboard Flight 93 who fought back against the hijackers and highlights the unity and resilience Americans showed in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We're joined by Michael Whatley from his U.S. Senate campaign to talk about public safety and the 2026 North Carolina Senate race. Whatley discusses his criticism of former Gov. Roy Cooper's approach to criminal justice, including Cooper's 2020 Racial Equity in Criminal Justice task force and broader policies that Whatley argues were too lenient toward repeat offenders. The two also discuss the upcoming campaign event featuring President Trump and the differences Whatley sees between his platform and Cooper's. Whatley emphasizes his focus on law enforcement, immigration and what he describes as North Carolina values.

Bo Thompson from Good Morning BT is also here for this Wednesday episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Bo talk about the upcoming midterm convention in Texas and what it could mean for Republicans heading into the 2026 elections. They discuss the history of midterm conventions, the role President Trump could play at the event and the potential significance of who speaks alongside him.

Brett and Bo also consider how the convention could be used to unify the party and establish messaging ahead of the general election. Bo also shares what he and the Good Morning BT team have coming up tomorrow morning on WBT, including political discussion with Scott Huffman, a conversation with Charlotte City Council member Kimberly Owens, and a visit from cybersecurity expert Theresa Payton.
