India has banned the use of red lights on VIP vehicles
India will ban ministers and senior officials from using red beacons on their cars to speed through traffic from the 1st May. Under the new rule, only emergency vehicles, ambulances, fire engines and police cars can use flashing blue lights.
4 convicted in fatal gang-rape get death penalty
The Supreme Court judgment upholding death penalty for four men in the 2012 infamous gang rape case of a 23-year-old student that shocked the world. The court held that the nature of the crime, which triggered massive protests across India, made it a fit case for the death penalty. It described the assault as "most brutal, barbaric and diabolical," according to the Press Trust of India news agency. The victim's father said he was happy with the court judgment and demanded that the convicts be hanged quickly.
