Bongani Bingwa speaks to Matt Clark, co-founder and creative director of the Ngeke! Festival, about the festival’s return to Johannesburg for its second year this Saturday, 7 November. Taking place at The Nest in New Doornfontein, the free event brings together artists including Nomfundo Moh, The Brother Moves On, Xtreem Makhayeni and ZANAH. In partnership with Corruption Watch, the festival uses music and live performance to raise awareness about corruption and remind people that it is not limited to government offices and boardrooms, but can also happen in everyday life. We explore how music can encourage people to speak out, reject corruption and demand accountability.
