James 1:12-18 - The Difference Between Testing and Tempting

In this episode, Jenn discusses Nehemiah chapter five, where the Israelites are facing internal problems that hinder the rebuilding of the Jerusalem wall:
The mistreatment of the poor by the wealthy and powerful in Jerusalem, who are charging exorbitant interest rates and selling their fellow Jews into bondage. This is a clear violation of the Old Testament laws, which prohibit charging interest to fellow Jews and selling them into slavery.
The divide in Jerusalem - a major concern given the city's already precarious situation.
Nehemiah takes action by calling a meeting with the nobles and rulers and urging them to stop charging interest and selling their fellow Jews into slavery. 
The nobles agree to stop charging interest and restore the people's fields, vineyards, and homes.
