Job 10 - You Fashioned Me as Clay

Listener Survey: Take a quick survey and help shape The Bible Explained

Today we continue in Job 10, where Job puts God on trial and forgets how near His love really is:

  • Job refuses to "perk up." He asks why God contends with him, even while knowing God is not unjust.
  • "You have fashioned me as clay." Romans 9 and 2 Timothy 2 remind us the Potter can remake vessels of dishonor into vessels of honor, and that we really don't know the plan of God.
  • Suffering can uncover buried pride, and Job grows presumptuous toward God.
  • Job sees God's presence as a hunting lion, the lie Satan wants us to believe about our Father.
  • Psalm 139 recasts the same themes as loving nearness: we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and His thoughts toward us are precious.
