  • God brings an encouraging prophecy to Ahaz and tells him to ask for a sign, but Ahaz refuses
  • Ahaz begs the king of Assyria for help - in a similar fashion as one would pray to God
  • Ahaz completely shutters the temple to God and replaces it with idols
  • Why idolatry breeds selfishness, which, in turn breeds violence
