In F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby", a central motif of the story is the contrast between Old Money and New Money, i.e. those who inherited their wealth vs. those who created it. Nearly a hundred years after it was first released however, many facets of this motif are still present in society today, and arguably more so given the rise of many young billionaires and unicorn startups. 

But what really is the core of the difference between Old Money and New Money? And how can we better identify and differentiate between them?
