Lea's heart for fostering began when she was just in elementary school knowing that she wanted to make a difference in the life of a child. Knowing she was called to help children, she became a teacher in Mishawaka, and it was a student of her very own that introduced Lea to becoming a foster mom! 

Through SAFY, her questions were answered, and she jumped right in to the licensing process.

"I do think I have moments, you know when they're in your house, and the big moments for me is when you get to see them be a kid. Where they let their walls down, that's when I have those moments,  of like, "Ok, wow this is impacting them positively."

While the future is uncertain with every case, Lea is certain that this process has taught her invaluable life lessons.  

"I will forever cherish it,  it's taught me so much about myself. It's helped me grow as a person, as an individual, and I just know that I will never regret having done it." .
