Raymond E. Greenstreet II, author and suicide survivor of Below the Breaking Point: The Business of Staying Alive, has spent nearly fifty years in the horticulture industry — a journey that began at fourteen years old and grew into Greenstreet Growers, a vertically integrated greenhouse and garden center operation in Lothian, Maryland, and Alexandria, Virginia.

Over his career, Ray has been a leader in his field. He is Past President of the Maryland Agricultural Council, has served on the Maryland Governor's Agricultural Commission and the Anne Arundel County Agricultural Commission, and holds a patent for his GreenWall technology. He has appeared three times on Maryland Public Television's Maryland Farm & Harvest, including a 2026 segment on farmer stress and mental health.

By every outward measure, Ray was the man who had it handled. But on August 22, 2025, under crushing pressure, he came within moments of ending his life. He survived — and what followed became his first book, Below the Breaking Point: The Business of Staying Alive.

Today, Ray speaks publicly about suicide prevention, mental health stigma, and the invisible pressures facing farmers, business owners, and veterans. He is an active advocate for Stop Soldier Suicide.

Ray lives on the farm in Lothian with his wife, Stacy, and credits his family and his faith as the reasons he fought to come back. What began as the darkest night of his life became a mission to help others.
