A Conversation on Healthy Self Awareness

"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate." - Carl Jung. Self-awareness is a double-edged sword. Too much of it and you can become an introspective navel gazer. But at the same time, as John Calvin said, "without knowledge of self, there is no knowledge of God." In this episode, John and Jonnie talk about what healthy self-awareness looks like versus unhealthy navel-gazing. While we aren’t able to control everything that happens to us, we are given some agency in some aspects of life - and good therapy and healthy self-awareness can help us see the difference. And this isn’t just humanism - understanding yourself is part of understanding the gospel.

Plus, John gets a fancy new watch and helps Jonnie confront a scammer on the phone. Meanwhile, Jonnie writes a new jingle for a prescription drug and takes credit for a friend's Grammy nomination.

John mentions: More Than Your Number: A Christ-Centered Enneagram Approach to Becoming AWARE of Your Internal World

Today's episode is NOT sponsored by Duvets: "For people who love their comforter, but only if it's wadded up inside of another comforter."
