From her days as a medical student at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland to serving as a frontline doctor in the "No Go Areas" of KwaZulu-Natal during South Africa's most violent years - Dr. Reshma Badal has always placed people before fear. Dr. Badal was appointed a standby physician to former president Nelson Mandela prior to his presidency, led military medical teams during the nation's first democratic elections, and later helped rebuild the country's health system as a senior official and policy shaper.
