Singapore may be known today for its clean waters, its glittering malls, and its abundance of food spots and eateries, but only a few will remember how different the country used to be not too long ago, as well as the pains and sacrifices that it took to get us to where we are today.

From the fall of Singapore, to life during the Japanese Occupation, and even to the brutal purging campaign known as Sook Ching, in this episode we take a look back at some of our darkest days to remind us of how far we've come, and how much we have overcome to make it to our nation's 61st birthday.
