On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing a few thoughts on the Portland Trail Blazers' decision to sign Damian Lillard to a two-year, $122 million contract extension that will keep him in Portland until 2027. The Blazers have been good-but-not-great for years with Lillard, and now they just locked themselves into NBA purgatory for the next five years - at least. Portland should have realized they were never going to win a championship with Lillard as their best player long ago, but rather than cut the chord and trade Dame for a King's Ransom to jumpstart their rebuild, they decided they'd rather live in mediocrity. Later, Jason discusses the latest surrounding the ongoing contract negotiations between Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Say what you want about Jackson's abilities as a passer, the fact remains he's an unanimous MVP who has won at a high level ever since he got to the NFL. At a minimum, Jackson deserves a larger contract than Dak Prescott got from the Dallas Cowboys before last season. Finally, J-Mac closes the show by waxing poetically on the latest tabloid rumors involving New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. Before the NFL Draft, Jason called Wilson the 'Mormon Mahomes'. Now? They're calling him the 'Mormon Manziel'. Take a listen to find out why!
