Evening six after seventh Sports Talk for Monday night, March the twenty fourth, twenty twenty four, twenty twenty five. It's great start, isn't it? Get back on track? Ten years to the day since Grant Elliott smacked US six into the Eden Park grandstand. The Black Hats advanced to the Cricket World Cup Final.

Oh, I can hear myself talk now? The Oh, that's just amazing. The crowd, the supports is Eland Eden Park semi final to win it in the last over. I think, you know, hopefully the all our supporters got what they wanted.

Oh, he certainly did so. Maybe not so much a few days later, But what a night that was at Eden Park. Lucky enough to be in the stands that night for that encounter. Never experienced a sporting fixture like that. Won, the noise, the tension, the relief. Well, the All Whites chase a spot at the same ground tonight in their Football World Cup twenty twenty six, about to get under weigh against New Caledonia. Kickoff just a couple of moments away. We'll keep across that for you this evening and update you on any goal scoring action. We'll head to Eden Park two around halftime for the lattice with the New Zealand heralds Michael Burgess, who is there. We'll have the Piney Power rankings as well, even though Piney's not here tonight, we'll dish those out and rank the weekend that was. In sports, we'll start with Super Rugby though in a moment or two, and the woes of the Blues a diabolical run in they're opening six games to start their title defense that leaves them teetering as they head into their first buy of the season. I don't think anyone could have predicted that the Blues would be in this sort of predicament through six games to start this season, but that is indeed where they find themselves. Mills Muliaina to join the program out of Sky Sport or Black Centurion in just a couple of moments as well. Busy night of sporting action will keep you right across at your calls. Your text always welcome. OH eight hundred and eighty ten eighty or nine two nine two to connect with us via the text line this evening, looking forward to your company. It is coming up nine after seven.

You hear it from the biggest names in sports man have your say on eight hundred eighty ten eighty sports Talk or more on your home of sports news Talks at me.

It has hardly been a dream start for the Blues. Another loss on the weekend and to be honest, possibly their worst performance of the season forty two to nineteen losing to the Crusaders. They head into the I now with one win and five defeats to show. For a former Blues player, All Black Centurion and Sky Sport commentator Mills, Muliaina joins us now on Sports Talk. Mills, thanks so much for your time.

No no worries time.

Well, we head into the buy from a Blues perspective with one win and five losses to start their title defense. I don't think anyone saw this coming, did you.

I didn't think it was going to be this bad. It's not the start they anticipated, but I think earlier on for preseason, you know, they had a lot of injuries coming into the season, but certainly they just haven't quite clipped and obviously the disappointment of only want picking up one game so far. I think that the buyer has come at a you know, they always say come at a pretty good time for the Blues.

Right now, fourteen injuries. How much does that impact their campaign?

Huge? You know, that's that's always a fact that you can't really control, right You've got to look at the depth of the squad. But they're also injuries and key positions. You know, the Boden Barrett a few weeks ago against the Brumby. So you look at the locking department as well. You know, you know, losing quite a few guys there, Petrick through plow to pulling out, but also given people Fetter starting to come back, a lot of a lot of injuries in disruptions. They certainly sort of upfront, I mean, it's all about key positions, you know, the hooker. I mean, they haven't sort of got someone that's there and well established in that department at the moment, and so when you kind of look at that, you know they're really unsettled in I mean, they'll be the first one to admit as well. I think also the rules have impacted the way they've been wanting to play. I think they came into the season wanting to play a similar style to last year, but that's just not the case this year. We've got the faster looking game, teams and wanting to sort of explot you on the outside, these opportunities to issue with ball in hand, and I think you know, they've they've picked up on that and in the last two or three weeks, but they just seemed they hadn't quite got the balance right or or quite connected in the fact they do we play that game that won us last year's their style or you know, we've got the ability also to play an expensive game, and that's where they're sort of missing out a little bit.

Last year they went very direct with their forwards, rolled up the sleeve, put pressure on teams inside the twenty two. But this year and Saturday not probably being the biggest example of that, is that they struggled even into the Crusader's twenty so they weren't playing in the right areas of the park.

Yeah, exactly. And if you're think about it, the kicking is becoming from teams that they're playing. It's you now, the Blues down in their own half and all of a sudden becomes a different mindset to them. You know, they they haven't quite got their kicking game right to put themselves back or for patients to be able to say, well, hey, we're not going to play anything in our own hearts. So they've almost forced the Blues into playing the game. They're not sure they're comfortable with you. I think they can play an expensive game. I just don't think the perhaps got the confidence or the connections, all the all the backing from everyone to say hey we can actually do this and and have the skill set to be over door. But you're right that they're not getting themselves in the right area of the parking you we want to last year, anything around that halfway mark or into your own half, and the Blues would just keep the ball in hand, carry hard, and they wouldn't meet sides, you know, they wouldn't give the ball back to aamy side. And now all of a sudden that sort of disconnected and their clean out. There's real opportunity to be able to steal some right ball and slow them down there and even frustrate them. So again, you know, I mentioned before the fact that this is a good time for them to go and establish what game they want to play. I certainly still think they're going to They can make the six. I think they've got the talent and some returning sort of guys coming back that are in key roles. And this is a tough competition. It's I mean tough in the fact that it's so so close, and so I still think that there's there's a there's a chance that they'll make the six.

What do they need to fixt Is it just as simple as tweaking that game plan, going back to what they did last year and resetting that way.

Yeah, I mean, I think get a few key players back. I think Bodin's not too far away once they establish the five connection. Injuries is going to be a big thing in healthy guys, I mean, losing areas at the beginning of the season, his aunt Sullivans of the world. I'd like to see sort of those guys. But again, you can't control when those guys are going to be. Really but I think the balance of the game, it's almost to say over the weekend to reset, it has to be you've got to forget the fact that of they've only won one game, this is the next three weeks is going to really define your season, and so getting on the same page and by that whether it's a let's just reroute back to the old way and carry hard and be really efficient at that or there is ability. I mean you looked at the way they came back inst Chiefs and Hamilton. I mean that's a side that it can play open open the style of rugby. I'd like to see them play there, but unfortunately at the moment they just are lacking a little bit of confidence and the skill seat to actually go with it.

The Crusaders are obviously beating the Blues on the weekend, look to be back to some of the form that they've previously had they I would have dismantled the Blues. What have you made of the Crusaders start to the season.

They look really dangerous, and not because of the way the dismantled the Blues. But I think there are stall plenty to come and within the Crusaders that they weren't parted by all ends on the weekend, but they will give them confidence because there is still plenty left for the Crusaders to be able to give. I think David Harvilly has been he was an exceptional over the week and the weekend. Many he has been leading into this since he's been given them a captain see role they've got you know, they've always had plenty of depths, but you know, now they've sort of got them. I was on a roll that one away from home for the first time and how many years. And that's a key thing. And if we're the Crusaders, once they get a bit of sort of momentum into their game and start tweaking a few things, you know, they're definitely hard beasts to sort of stop. But that dangerous and effect that they're still pinny more in terms.

Of your game.

But that's infects.

It's as you mentioned before, it's a really tight competition this year. The Chiefs out on top, but we've seen you know, they've lost to the Drawer Milana. They had a little stumble. Ultimately won that on the weekend by fifteen points. But cheaper is this competition this year. Mills is really tired, isn't.

It, oh man. And when you're hear you know he's hyping up heaver of the other side of the ditch. Ma that's when you know it's putting there sort of twenty cents within as well. I love it and this is I mean, it's the beauty of this is what we've been wanting for the possibly the last four or five years. There hasn't been this competitors for a very long time, and hence the reason why the BREU is still in it places. But you know, you talk about the Chiefs, you know about our staff on the Perfect Game as well, the Hurricanes in a similar boat. You know they had to buy last weekend. And I mean you see the teams like the Reds come come to Toned and beat the Highlanders the way they sort of head. So it's it's definitely wide open the rules that had had a playing this and it's been outstanding. But I mean you've been there for a very long time, these competitions by time, and even before this, you know, round three or four, you're starting to see the different expensiveness we certainly haven't seen it. I mean that it's a very fight game and then the teams are prepared to chancey around which is which is I think it's pleasing to see.

It certainly is Millis mully Aina, thank you so much for your time with us on Used Talk, but appreciate it's thank you very much Misma joining us on Sports Talk this evening. You want to throw up in the lines and have a chat around Super Rugby. Are you prepared to draw a line through the lose and say they cannot win Super Rugby this season? With one win from six outings as they enter the first buy of the season, there are seven points outside the playoffs as it stands. Are you prepared to say this Blues team cannot win the title this year? And Blue Spans, where are they going wrong? They've had fourteen injuries or have fourteen injuries at the moment, but it can't solely be all down to the injury toll. So where is this Blues team going wrong?

Oh?

Eight hundred eighty ten eighty nine two nine two for a text message on the Blues or anything else Super Rugby? You want to get stuck into tonight? She's been a busy old sporting weekend. There is no score through eight minutes in the New Caledonia All Whites game at Eden Park as well. Will keep you up today, all again Smith and for piety tonight, Let's go to the lines. Eighteen after seven, Very good evening to Kevin. How's things?

How are you?

I'm very well? Thank you?

No too bad? I've criticism is what might think of the Blue Sofa feels very Rocky Stewart. Mute, I'll leave it at that, you know what I mean, Yes, yes, at the book, at the Blues performance that I'm very to lose to the Crusaders. Oh my god, I'm I'm I'm a Blues fan through and through. But my criticism right now of the team is very rocky Stewart, like, I'm going to keep my mouth.

Ricky does that very very well when he's interview. Doesn't He doesn't doesn't doesn't say it because he knows that he might get fine.

Yeah, and of course I'm good. Of course I'm not kind of watching the New zeal't ga remember, But at the end, I'm in the wrong football confederation. I'm in the wrong football confederation right now. Good luck to the good luck to the all whites. Good utter your whites. But all I've got, all I've got to do is wait till early wednes late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning. Hopefully the soft the Roofs can get past my distant relatives, the Chinese.

Yeah, yeah, I mean they should, on the basis of the world rankings.

Get past the Chinese and then deal with the and deal with the Japanese and Perth in June, and then deal with the Saudis in Saudi Arabia in June. Good grief otherwise, that's otherwise it's going to be a hard way. And of course I've been loving and the AFL. Of course I'm happy. My dogs are my bull dogs and Kenby one and my Magpie's won on in front of seventy eight thousand on Friday night.

That sounds like you had a great weekend of sport. Even look at that. I can't believe the crowds they get for the AFL. By the way, I've been lucky enough to go a couple of years in a row eighty eight thousand and one year, I think it was eight ninety thousand the year after. I'm glad you enjoyed the weekend of sport, Kevin, thank you very much for your call this evening. Oh eight hundred and eighty ten eighty nine nine A text message Super Rugby on a Monday night. Where are the Blues going wrong? They are the shadow of the team that tuned out last year. That last year they had every Super Rugby team on the back foot at one point or another. Yet these Blues looked nothing like that twenty twenty four season. Last year they were imposing. This year they're just ponderous. They played direct last year. Now they can barely head down field. They're completely lateral. And I know that the other teams around the rest of the competition will be jumping for joy. They've got better, no doubt about it. The Chiefs what a conceited of thirty five, but they could scored fifty on the weekend. The Crusaders obviously two good for the Blues. And that's the worrying thing for the Blues. I think they've gone backwards. Everyone else's taken a big step forward fourteen Andrew sure, but and some of those playing a tweep a lot too. But I'm Barrett Throng. The Fassi, Ricattelli, Dowry, the high profile players, and they added a lot to the team. But every team goes through periods of injury. And the worrying thing for me with the Blues is that the senior players that remained standing and not exactly stepping up. Dolden Papalii really appears to have gone into his shell. Rico Yuwani been very quiet this season and was handed the captaincy on Saturday night, Caleb Clark struggling to make an impact on games. They looked rudderless on the weekend until Finlay Christy gave them some go forward to halfback. This was a Blues team on the verge of a dynasty. Now they are backpeddling at a rate of knots oh eight hundred eighty ten eighty nine two nine two For a text message for the Blues fans. Don't want to own up to what's going wrong. Give us an idea. Is it the injuries or is there something more wrong at this team? Jeremy says this mate, Rico Yuani has done absolutely nothing at a long time at club or national level. Something is not right there, Jeremy. He's battling to get into games this season, really struggling, hasn't made an impact, not getting the kind of ball he was last year. But I agree with you he is not the player, not that he can be. We certainly know that Rico can be made a lot of running meters over the weekend, but that was when the game was buying large gone. I wouldn't just focus on him, though. I think there's a few others that need to take a look at themselves from that Blues team like the ones I just mentioned. Moz says this elliott, I think the Caleb Clark Clark incident has had an effect as well. It's unseled the team possibly, although I'm not sure how much they knew about it before it came public or not. Whether maybe that's caused a surprise or not. I don't know. I don't know that necessarily be down to that muzz but probably didn't help, did it. Oh eight one hundred and eighty ten eighty nine two nine two for a text message? Let's talk the Blues and Crusaders fans one for you. Should we apologize to Rob Penny? Did everyone get it wrong? Last year? We talked about the Blues having injuries, where the Crusaders certainly had a long injury list last year in Super Rugby and Rob Penny was basically the whipping boy for months on ends, the Crusaders couldn't buy a win. Now the seconds on the ladder behind only the Chiefs, who are clearly the team's the competition's best team. Did we all get it wrong on Rob Penny? And do we Maybe I want an apology? Just a thought?

Love?

Your thoughts after this twenty four after seven on Neused Talks MB.

Was it the right call? Called only one hundred eighty Elliott, it's sorts talk with Elliott Smith on news Talks.

We're talking to super Rugby on sports Talk until eight o'clock Elliott Smith. And for Jason Pine this evening still and I scored in the football seventeen minutes gone New Zealand and New caledone year. Get your thoughts on the weekend. That's been your assessment of your teams. Let's go to Graham evening.

Graham evening, Elliott, how are you.

I'm good yourself?

Yeah, good to thank you. Yeah. Apart from Cress passing, I've.

Already you would have had a bet to do with him. Graham.

Oh, I've met him a number of times because he used to have the supporters Club quite a bosom were a supporters Club trip out to Glenmark when Todd Blackada was playing for them when he got dropped in. Yes, I had a few. Yeah, it was always good. He's someone that respected people. He was full of fan Alex Wiley like I know when he was coaching Canterbury he always made sure the team went under the supporters club and things like that. So because he was from the country, aren't very much that grassroots. But yeah, it's real end of an era. But I'm onto the Yeah, the Super Rugby and Crusaders. Yeah, obviously I'm very pleased. It's it's you know, it's it's it's not relatively early. It's sort of getting too that third a third or lay through the comp Maybe I don't know, but yeah, I think personnel has played a big role. I think they put a lot of time and effort into the review. And you know, obviously James O'Connor, he's pre he's come up trumps and he got a lot of people rubbished him like their rubbish Rob Penny last year. And you know Kyle Preston's come in and yeah, and Will Jordan's brat with Braden was only there for one game so far, but hope he's backstone. But I mean he played outstanding. You know, he was not there last year and Easton Blackhead has you know, he's played more, and all those guys Scott Barrett, but Cody Taylor, I mean, you aren't. You ain't the county's manchalk. He you know, he's been he's ready come through, you know, and validated his selection. So yeah, I think there's just yeah, they put a big reveal and I think people did get wrong about Rob Penny. I think, I mean, I just knew how good a coach he was with Canterbury and the sort of two thousand and eight to three to eleven I think it was. He got four titles and he was involved with Ossie McLain and Steve Hanson an earlier successful MPC teams too. So yeah, yeah, I think they want to get your mojo back, you know, you know you got to keep going. Yeah, don't want to keep it going this weekend because specific it won't be easy.

Well certainly one. It's momentum. That's the big thing that they just couldn't get last year, Graham and they kept chopping and changing their first fives. Last year Heppera Kimberda had a go, David have Villy was in there for a week. There might have been someone else, I mean Rivers, Rayhana. This year they've stuck with Ty Kimberda. Now the goal kicking is a bit of a battle, but have Gone, we trust you you're going to be a go. I think it's made a big difference as well.

It has I mean last year, but Fugus Burke didn't come back. Yeah, that's fight. I mean, he was a very good player. I rated him highly and his non non playing and I remember he got injured again and the delayed has come back and that was probably a fatal blod and you know, so we ended up and Rivers got injured quite a bit. I think he's due back. So yeah, and Tahara and James of you know that Kima is really his general games been very good. Obviously, I'd like to see him improve the kicking a bit, but yeah, I know, yeah, the combinations are better and then players go down and Tom Krusty's came and Vasi, I mean he's been around the block and he wanted to prove a point in the last couple of weeks. So yeah, but I Blues, and I do think the injury toll has played a role, and I think the game plan may be a bit limited compared with you know, even the Islanders, even though they got beaten on the weekend. You look at gavini Ze on games, they playing quite attacking rugby. Yeah, so and the Blues a reboat is being caught a seat and that's probably what's needed.

Yeah, Yeah, it's fascinating, isn't it. Graham One one tactic works one year and everyone goes that's the way to play, and then the next year it falls apart and everyone's playing a different way and it doesn't work. I think maybe the shock and or thanks as always he called Graham around the Blues last year, the way that it played so physically, so direcked that teams couldn't stick with it. They were so well drilled. They went away from it slightly. Obviously, some injuries play apart, but the door has been opened to different styles of play, and as Mills touched on when we chatted with him before, some of those rule changes have made that game the game a lot faster and perhaps just doesn't suit the way the Blues want to play. Oh eight hundred eighty ten eighty nine two two for a text message, David says this Blues attitude has got something wrong. So tudo has about attitude. Clarks problem isn't helping but we don't really know, but just not performing and it's petty as players lose chances to progress. So that's the other thing. As well when your teams aren't playing as well. Harder for those players in all that contention to look good, especially if they're not playing well as well and they're not getting the opportunities. So its swings and roundabouts as well. But you make a very good point. Glenn says this higher if they get rid of Liam Lawson from Formula one due to poor form, then surely the Blues should be relegated from Super Rugby. Tongue in cheek, I'm sure. Thank you very much for the text, cutthroat to wake up and see that they're considering sending Liam back to racing balls. You don't get much time to muck around to you in Formula one. It's all business. Hopefully they can stick with the key. We nine four a text message, oh eight hundred and eighty ten eighty to get in touch with us. Grant says this. Apart from last weekend, the Landers have been so close at winning the cards and a couple of silly things have just kept them out. For a team of knicks to know all blacks that are bloody good really a great grant. The a little bit hot and cold, we saw that on the weekend. That was a game they probably should have won, but they get a try against me the side of a group yellow card. The momentum swings back to ridz Way, a game that they probably should have banked something from. Appreciate the text nine two nine two to get in touch with us or anything other topic you want to get in touch with us this evening on sports sort. We're here Tel eight, So let's go the lines Aaron evening erin friend, I'm good yourself.

No, I can't complain.

I can't complain no one that you ever listens.

Anyway, my my Gris Wiley.

Story and rest some pecs hell of an a hell of a nice.

Guy, and I'll refrain from using language he actually used with me over the time. Ninety ninety six, Right, I was a I'd left eas yelling and I decided I was going to do ninety five World car and two around and have a loc No, I'll do in ninety six because that'll be you know, we get more well looked after, right, yep. And I was a former rock singer, long hair, three earrings in the old left ear, all that sort of carry on. Right, walked into this. So the first test of that series was the four test series. You remember it was Cape down Durban Pretoria JOBU And yeah, that the Cape Town game was the Seal Rugby Championship or whatever it was back then, and and then the other three after that. But you know we were going for a series win and that that included that. Anyway, walked into this bar pretty sure it is called the Green Man, which I think former Springbok own maybe Joel Stransky or somebody like that. Anyway, Griz was propped up at the bar having a couple of quiet ones, right, and there a few of us and uh, you know, sort of half an other of half a dozen of us. We're touring. We did that saturv a good tour with the Nuns.

Remember the Nuns right somewhere deep in my memory, Yeah, a picture that's right year.

Yeah. So we're all all this big bunch of Kiwi's on.

Touring and bands and having a whale at the time.

So walking those bard I've still got my long hair, I've got still got three earrings in the ear and all that sort of stuff, and you know, I trying trying to act and look cool and prop myself up beside Criss Kidd, mister walle you know my name Darreon.

How are you you know? That's just looks me square.

In the eye. I can use the words. Come on, he looks me squeering the.

Eye and he goes, lad, you want to.

Treat this with me? Take a kissing thing out of your ear and without a word of a lie, I have never put them back in. So I was like, sorry, looked them out and it was like, that's a lad. Anyway, long story short. I I I went over there on a bit of a whim from London and said of you know, there's a load of us. And I was one of the few that didn't organize the thousand tickets. And to his credit, Old Grizz organized me tickets for Cape Town, Kings Park, Pretoria and Alisart.

Oh my goodness, and.

Dude, I was. I was setting near management and and the reserves on every game. You know. We got talking over that beer of the green Man and we had a good gin wag and he's like, you're all right, lad, you're right good, and I spoke, I said, I'm waiting here without any tickets. He's like, let me organize that for you, lad. Thank you. Mister Wiley say yeah, that's my great story mate. He looked me square in the eye and I said, you want to drink.

Best with me?

And all talk was you taking the ear eggs out and you got the tickets to the games and a lifelong story, a.

Lifelong story about he rest in peace. He was a he was a grumpy, humble, sincere, generous man.

That's what Yeah nicely put and thank you so much. What a lovely tal there's outstanding Grizz whiley yes, rest in peace. And we've had a couple of texts Bob messaging it as well, saying similar sentiments. Very very sad news when when that broke over the course of the weekend, LLEGI you to the game and growing up in Canterbury, you know he's playing days and the shield or the coaching was a bit before my time. But seeing him in advertisements for Canterbury Draft and various things through the years, even though I didn't see him play boy, you learned about Griz pretty quickly. You learned, you learned about the man, You learned about the mustash and he represented some great things in New Zealand rugby. So very very sad news that he has gone. A couple more texts on this, Elliott, what is exactly wrong with the Blues? Ninety percent of geographical New Zealand and loving the results and hope it may long continue. Thank you very much, Paul Near with this, Rob Penny was blamed for the Crusaders perform last year. Vern Kodder must take some of the blame for the Blues. You talked about a reset on the weekend. Vern feels like a little bit of that edge they had last year's gone and that obviously has to come down to the coaching. It's gonna be interesting to see how they come back with the buy when they do get a lot of those players back, because the runway is rapidly running out for them in the Super Rugby season, mackwithurs the Blues have braun So what's wrong? Yeah, probably the other part of that statement at times lacking over the course of the season. Another one that shows you how good a coach Jammie Joseph is. But backing a team competitive with really a bunch of no names, brackets, no offense given, imagine what he can do with a team of champions. We did that in twenty fifteen, didn't he backs against the wall? They had Ben Smith, They had a couple of other players of note, but Aaron Smith obviously, but a team of battler's and got them to the super Ragby type that might actually be the kind of player that he prefers coaching, the battler's getting the most out of a player. I think it's great for New zeal On Ragbit to having back at the helm of a super rugby team. And you know he's talked about being in the mix for all Black's job potentially down the track, depending on what happens. This has be an interesting test from over the next few years. And Steve with this one nine two nine. So alligant Liam Lawson has overrated. What's he really done? He's had good results in the other tiers of racing around the globe. Red Ball clearly see something in him. There'll be better judges of Formula one racers than I. It was a big call to give him the seat. Hasn't quite worked out to this point. But the question now do they peck and stick or do they go back to the well and go to Yuku Sonoda And what does that do for are the confidence of Liam Lawson if they do see him as a long term project. I think it's a fascinating a couple of weeks coming up in the world of Formula One. It is twenty away from eights on News Talk ZEBB. Still no score in the football half an hour gone Neil White's and New Caledonia. When do the nerves start ramping up? Third of the game down already? You always had a couple of chances as a gold mouth scramble before, couldn't get it in the back of the net. New Caledonia haven't had too many chances from what I've seen, but they're hanging in there. No score at Eden Park, twenty away from ets on News Talk ZIBB. Back with Piney's Power Rankings my version after this our rankings, Well, let's throppens to Piney's Power Rankings for another Monday, only this time there's no Pioney Elligant Smith's version of the Power rankings. Everything that went on in the weekend of sporting a little bit more beside. Let's go as always like any good list we started. Unfortunately Liam Lawson at the back of the grid in our Power rankings. Well, Liam Lawson, that is club last. That is bad news ouch ouch. William Lawson bad news one way to put it, he's under the spotlight now in questions over his future in that seat. Not the greatest of starts in the Red Bull Chears shine the Blues narrowly avoiding the ten spot. Or to go the Crusaders, aren't they over that good? Well? Jordan Jordan gets one and the Crusader's forty two nineteen one win five losses to start the Super Rugby season. The Blue season just getting worse, smashed by the arch rivals at home. But at least they weren't smashed by a mascot, Reggie the Rabbit. This is Reggie the Rabbit, the Rabbit O's mascot pushing a young Cronella fan who just wanted a high five. Settle down, Reggie.

Seven.

The Australian Super rankby teams get the seventh spot, yes, indeed, good bye Sea and in the top six, all four of them in the Super rankby playoff mix up they started today. Great parody for the competition. He's illing teams playing catch up apart from the Chiefs and the Crusaders six. Well, it feels like the breaking season finished months ago. But the Australian Basketball Leagu's finally crowned champion, the.

Best team all season lot the AL Championship now lives in the car.

It's the Ilaora Hawks formerly the Woollongong Hawks. The season the Strouandingan Basketball League champions, their first title since two thousand and one, enjoying the Spoils five. Maybe it's haad Low four back victories for the Warriors, ash of feet, easy for the home team and a real arm wrestle. But they look completely different to the side that when to Las Vegas, don't they? This is the Warriors of twenty twenty five. Long man continue, and long may we forget that that Raiders game ever happens. Let's move on to number Sure, the black Caps playing Pakistan for one up in the series, and that is that New Zealands have won the match, They have won the series.

Sody gets the last week as Takistans have been.

Hammered an odd old series given how many players are sitting out. But a series win is a series win is a series wine. Okay, maybe it's Haad Low for Sam Ruth, but the little bit distance and the fact with included from outside the weekends means that I'm putting him to three when really he's probably actually the one. It happened the middle of last week, Sam Ruth world record for the fifteen year old Satana smiling.

Sever's right now, that's a sub four baby, that's a sub.

For you, little beauty. Can't wait to see how he continues to develop.

We move on. Two.

Chris Wood are number two. In fact he's well, were's a different number, but he's number two on our list to.

Paintlets to them, But post again, you're run out of place to describe this goal scoring for Yeah, funny hadn't sullied the older copy book by doing the heenous act of signing autographs for young children? What is in the crowd signing autocrats?

Well, how can you not love this human being? It might be a yellow card for Chrystal. It's a yellow car for Chris Woods for climbing into the steaks.

Quite frankly disgraceful behavior. Reggie the Rabbit could learn a listen though from Chris one ween on a somber notes in the power rankings tonight, Sporting giants that we have.

Lost, we hopefully would have inspired a lot of young gems even to this day, that hey, you can come into Formula one. You can defy all the odds. You can't actually grab it by the horns and say we are going to do everything we can to be competitive.

Eddie Jordan passing away. Then Big George Foreman down.

Goes Frasier, down, goes Frasier, down, goes Frasier.

It is over, It is over.

It is over in the second round, George Roman. It's the heavyweight champion up the world and yesterday New Zealand's and rankby is a whole losing. Alex Gris Wiley.

Lays burgers can get there, slips it into a kissing Alex Wade well account of Bree Captain.

Up there at the precise moment to check what was air precision past. Those were Pineyers and Elliot's Power Rankings. Andy disagree, agree well hard agree on number one. I think you've nailed it. You've done a very good job Elliott on your first go. Thank you very much.

Three absolute legends deserve the honor of one last opportunity to be a top spot on Pioneer's Elliot's Power rankings.

Well done, mate, Hey, thank you. Yeah. Absolutely look a tough weekend for sports fans hearing the passing of those three gentlemen, it is still no score in the football forty minutes gone at Eden Park, Your Whites and New Caledonia. We will head to Eden Park after this and get an update from Michael Burgess from the New Zealand Herald backworth more after this. I'm knocking on the door of half time at Eden Park and still no scoore. Let's take you there, Michael Burgess from the New Zealand Herald, is there, bird, good evening to you. What's gone wrong?

Well, I mean hasn't gone to plan. To be fair, New Caledonia have played very well, extremely organized. They've basically got a five four one out of possession, so they're just sitting back defensively and they all ways are getting frustrated, certainly starting to get frustrated. They've been a bit static up front of the All Whites and certainly in midfield. They're not dominating the game like they would have expected to and like they need to.

Really.

Yeah, they've had a number of opportunities from what we've seen, but just haven't been able to convert. There's one goal mouth scramble Chris Woods seem to miss one a moment or two ago.

What are you seeing Yeah, that's right, Chris Wood headed over the bar with a cross that was just a little bit too high. They have looked very dangerous and set pieces and corners again, some shots and blocks on the line and sort of lasts defense. But New Caledonia look dangerous on the counter, you have to say. So it's a lot, a lot closer than the many of us expected. Although I always thought this was going to be a bit of a test compared to the FG game, and it's certainly it's certainly proving that way. I mean, the Whites will really have to list after the break.

Well, New Caledonia's aim just to go for the old smash and grab, try and get a one nil lead and sit on that.

Yeah, I mean they're sitting back on the counter. Everyone knew that was going to be their tactic. But it's quite effective because the All Whites are starting to get a bit impatient in position and that does allow for some transition, quick, quick transition. And yeah, they had no dangerous on the break. A couple of times. We've caught the All Whites short a few times and they're just about to have their first corner. So you know, it's all it's all happening again.

It is all happening, Michael BURGESSI let you get back to it at Eden Park. Thank you so much for your time and joining us and the action. You know how it was hoping to go from a New Zealand perspective to this point is the corner is headed away by the All Whites. Yes, just looking at the crowd as well. Plenty of white jerseys in the about thirty thousand or so, but many, I'm sure predicting and hoping that this was going to be a little bit easier against New Caledonia given the disparity in the world rankings the Whites in the nineties, New Caledonia in the one hundred and fifties. Last time these two sides met was in twenty twenty two in Doha and the All Whites won seven to one. On that occasion, that was in the COVID qualification. They went on and lost to Costa Rica. But other results have been quite tight. Twenty sixteen ny'l all twenty sixteen again two nil, one nil, one nil. As the White said back down field. So it hasn't always been easy against New Caledonia, and they're putting the squeeze on. We're into three minutes of at a time in the first period and the Whites just not able to find a way through as yet. I wonder whether it maybe just a halftime reset might not be the thing for this All Whites team. Get in the sheds, flush the first half away and hope the second half comes a little better, because it's certainly feeling a little bit more tense than Friday night was. Obviously that was only a semi final. It was feeling more bah rain esque than perhaps many expected. That was a nervy night fifteen years ago plus at Sky Stadium. Who will be the All Whites? Rory Fallon? Who will be there? Mark Paston? Hopefully they don't need a Mark Paston at the other end of the ground. But as it stands nil on the verge of halftime at eating part, things looking a little bit nervy for the All Whites. We will keep you up to that through our news and with Marcus after eight o'clock as well as to the result of that. Let's hope the All Whites are heading to a third Men's Football World Cup and good fun. As always, Darcy's back with you tomorrow night Here on Sports Talk look forward to your company next time.
