വീര്യം കുറഞ്ഞ മദ്യത്തിനുള്ള നികുതി ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്ന വിവാദ ധനബില്‍ നിയമസഭ പാസാക്കി. സബ്ജക്ട് കമ്മറ്റിക്ക് പോലും വിടാതെ ധൃതി പിടിച്ച് നിയമം പാസാക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് ആരോപിച്ച് പ്രതിപക്ഷം സഭ ബഹിഷ്കരിച്ചു. ബില്‍ നിയമസഭയിലേക്ക് ഒളിച്ച് കടത്തിയതെന്ന് പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ്  ആരോപിച്ചു. ലളിതമായ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞ് പെരുപ്പിച്ച് പ്രതിപക്ഷംസര്‍ക്കാരിന്‍റെയും ബജറ്റിന്‍റെയും ശോഭ കെടുത്താന്‍  ശ്രമിച്ചെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി  പറഞ്ഞു. പ്രതിപക്ഷത്തിനൊപ്പം മറ്റ് ചിലരും  ചേര്‍ന്നെന്ന് പാര്‍ട്ടിക്കകത്തെ വിമര്‍ശകരെ പരോക്ഷമായി സൂചിപ്പിച്ച് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി. 

The controversial Finance Bill, which includes a tax on low-alcohol beverages, has been passed by the Legislative Assembly. Alleging that the bill was being rushed through without even being sent to a Subject Committee, the opposition staged a walkout. The Leader of the Opposition accused the government of "smuggling" the bill into the Assembly. The Chief Minister retorted that the opposition was attempting to tarnish the image of the government and the budget by blowing a simple matter out of proportion. In a veiled reference to critics within his own party, the Chief Minister also accused them of joining hands with the opposition
