On January 25 this year, she was named the 2026 Australian of the Year for her trailblazing contribution to the Australian space industry.

Tanya Hennessy had just begun her seventh round of IVF when she joined the Stellar podcast last April. 

Just weeks after we recorded that episode, she found out she was pregnant. 

On December 20, five days before Christmas, Tanya’s long-awaited first child, a baby girl named Scottie – whose full name is Scotland Jack Poole – was born and she was thrust into the beautiful chaos of new motherhood, while dealing with the surreal realisation that she was finally holding her baby in her arms.
