X-rays were discovered in 1895 by Willhelm Röntgen, and in many languages other than English are called Röntgen radiation.

Speed b/humps on the other hand weren't discovered or uncovered. They insist on sticking out, with variations known as cushions and tables.

They did however originate around the same time, the first raised road to slow traffic was reported around 1906.
