At least.
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on your twenty four to seven home of the Black and Gold Steelers Nation Radio.
And we are back. I am Dale Lolly, he is the Matt Williamson and it is time now Matt on the drive for the Fantasy Football Focus and it being Wednesday, will take a look around the league here, who's in, who's out. Trey McBride, all right, there's nothing wrong with them. Knee injury limited at practice on Wednesday.
M Okay, that's a big deal. Yeah, needs getting the end zone. But I mean he is one of the top guys. I did a Dynasty podcast today and we were talking about Rock Bowers is considered easily the number one Dynasty tight end. But yeah, became the conclusion McBride to be our number two and he's got a bright future.
Yeah. Tyler Boyd with a foot non participant on Wednesday for the Titans. Will levis officially a full participant on Wednesday. He's dealing with a shoulder issue.
They want to play him as much as possible just to evaluate him for of.
Course, Nick Folk, Tennessee's kicker, absent from practice on Wednesday, with a groin injury, something injury.
Good, good groin injury.
Also know Tony Pollard he's got an ankle.
I've been seeing all these waiver wire things. Pick up Spears if you can, And I didn't realize there's something on with Pollard because I was just reading about it before we hit record. Pollard has really been the early down back. Spears has been getting all the routes. So if you can marry the two into Spears, even for one week, that could be massive.
Yeah. I don't know Spears is quite the runner though that Pollard.
Oh, I don't think he is. I don't think he is. I just think his opportunity could really spike, you know, on early downs.
Justin Herbert not practicing on Wednesday, he's dealing with that. It's it's a lot of stuff going. And he's also has an ankle too. He came out of that game with last week getting a little beat up, and.
He's getting a little beat up. Maybe him and Burrow both of both taking a lot of hits.
Yeah, Josh downs with the shoulder injury officially limited on Wednesday.
I thought he'd be back after the bye, but maybe he will be still.
Yeah, Michael Pittman with that back issue, was a full participant today. So good good, that's trending in the right direction, but it's still.
Yeah, it's gonna linger all year.
New England released kJ Osborne earlier this week. He was claimed by the Commanders.
Okay, that makes sense. I mean they could use a third, fourth type receiver. Yeah, I assume made his onet of youth movement in New England. Polk and Baker and those guys.
They weren't using kJ No so zach Ertz with the hamstring mispractice on Wednesday, they also listed as rest. Yes, at his age, I wouldn't too much into that. They're old hamstrings. Zing Gonzalez, listed with a foot injury, is limited on Wednesday. For Washington. That's significant because Washington kicks.
A lot of right. They get into red zone a lot, they move the football a lot. He's still learning as a red zone passer. Doesn't really matter who their kicker is, but.
They've been Yeah, they get three or four or five chances every game, and they're usually makeable field goals.
Yeah maybeah, maybe.
Not the long ones. Cybert for a long time this season was the leading score. He was tied at one point him and bow neck and neck. Yeah for field goals. He didn't have the long ones a Boswell.
Now, but he was often and short yea, right.
So Zan Gonzalez is kind of a sneaky Yeah, if you got to keep an eye on Drew Locke with heel and elbow issues, those are not connected. Missed practice on Wednesday for the New York Giants.
Yeah, they came out that the veto is starting.
Yeah, so great.
That doesn't help anybody, No, no, and they're playing the Ravens.
It certainly doesn't help you with neighbors.
No, not at all, or even Tracy or the only guys that were at all relevant, Wandel Robinson's an afterthought cutable at this point. Playing the Ravens and you're a fourteen and a half point dog.
I mean, Ravens might win that by thirty. I think they're they are very good at running up the score on bad team.
Coming off of bye. You know, get things right.
Oh look, Lamar's back. He's there again.
Henry as these eighty yard runs of shrugging people off. I think that game goes that way. I mean someone said that to you. The biggest spread or the second biggest spread of the season.
It's the biggest number one.
Okay, I know Jacks week was Detroit Detroit, Jacksonville or something like that.
Detroit against Detroit played last week.
They played somebody good. They beat the Pack. No.
Oh, so I'm sorry. It is Philadelphia Carolina last week?
Oh really, okay. I think Jacksonville went Detroit. They went up.
They went off at like thirteen point okay.
And my thoughts on it were, I don't know how many you'd have to give me to take.
The Giants more than fourteen fourteen and a half. Yeah, I don't know how they score.
Yeah, it's going to be bad.
This is Giants with de Vito or one of the teams that the Eagles held to like one hundred and ten one hundred and nineteen total yards.
Yeah, right, right right, I mean, and the Ravens might two.
Yeah. Malik Neighbors with the hip issue also limited practice on Wednesday, so they only may not even have him.
He was a game time last week and then they said he was going to be limited participant in the game and he ran like every route.
Romeo Dobbs, with a concussion, a full participant in practice on Wednesday.
That's good for him, but bad for the other dudes. They also gets crowded.
Open the practice window for Luke Musgrave.
I heard that too, which like it's good for like the playoffs and all that, but it's bad for fantasy Craft owners, just Watson owners.
And there's so many, so many miles like guessing which week who's going to be what in that offense.
Yeah, I think it helps the Packers win playoff games, but you know, which is their goal, of course, but it is so crowded.
The Chiefs have designated Harrison Butker to return from my.
R Oh good.
Okay, Matthew Wright was just named AFC Teams Player of the Week and now Harrison Butker maybe back as quick as quickly as this week.
Okay, I mean I would he knew he was going to lose.
His job, but yeah, I would think if you're you know, elevating this or designated him to return. He's a kicker. It's not like it's to say, it's not like he's he doesn't need a couple of weeks to ramp up.
I'm sure it's fine and he's ready to roll. Yeah, swinging like a few times in practice and pre game and get out there.
Yeah, butker now is the most accurate kicker of all time.
M your kick wealth of kicker knowledge, didn't.
I just looked these things up.
Matthew Wright. I bet ends up landing somewhere though, somewhere. Yeah. Good.
But he's already been on like team this year. He's like everybody's designated picking that guy. Yeah, yeah, because he's been fine.
Yeah, no's he'll be in It. Wouldn't be shocked if he's a starter next year.
Uh.
Looks like DJ Reader could practice on Thursday for the Lions, So that's gonna some good news. That's good news for them. Absolutely, they definitely need him on and uh Alee McNeil with the concussion also expected to practice today.
Okay, so that's one though of they're coming off a long week, right, Yeah, so he has a little more time than Joe average cushion one week.
So I would expect both those guys to potentially play. That's a big game.
And that's a really good pair of defensive tackles too.
Yeah, they're very good. Jalen Coker with a quad injury, expected to practice on Wednesday for the Carolina Panthers.
I like him, I mean I don't know if I'm running out picking him up right now, but I have him in a bunch of dynasty leagues, and I think they want to see what he can do. Him and Laguette and those guys. You know, obviously Thelands are number one right now.
But Joe Burrow, dealing with a sore knee, still expected to practice today.
He didn't look great when it happened. No, I mean, but tough guy. That's he's had so many things. I really wonder if he plays week A team.
Yeah, I do too.
I mean, the hands still bugs him and he's got a locko. He's taking so many hits.
I just wonder, you know, if he has a chance to lead the league in touchdown passes or something.
Maybe they maybe or he just wants to be the leader, which I totally would understand. You know.
Uh, DJ humphreyes with a hamstring not practicing on Wednesday for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Yeah. I'm not saying he was like the answer, but he's a He's had a decent career and you were proven than what they're throwing out the exactly it's their weakest position.
Yeah, left tackle not a good spot for the You know, I can't say it all. No, when their right tackle is their better tackle and he's not good either, that's not good. Marshaun Lattimore, right, finally practiced today for the Washington Commanders.
They were right.
Yeah, yeah, they acquired him at the trade deadline a month ago. He still hasn't.
Played a snap for him, right, that's a nice addition to get though. Yeah, you know for the stretch run. I think they'll probably be in the playoffs.
Oh maybe this is why the Commanders went out and claimed.
We just the receiver. Yeah.
Osborne Osborne Noah Brown suffered serious internal injuries and could miss the rest of twenty twenty four. Was originally thought to be a rib injury, now seem to be more serious and that he's been starting.
From them, he's kind of should be a three, but he's a two for them. Yeah, you know with the caff that makes sense in ad and Osbourne. So that's unfortunate. He was a nice little pick up for the Commanders.
Yeah, so now maybe he can bump all their other guys up a spot.
McCaffrey's of the world. Yeah, I don't if he'll be a two, but I don't know how they'll do that. Yeah, maybe it's Jommy Brown.
Yeah, he's definitely keep an eye on that this week and see how that breaks down for them. David and Joku has a hamstring not practicing today. Doesn't look good. They're saying he may not play this week.
He's super important to those guys. I mean, he's an inconsistent player, but he consistently gets a lot of targets.
Yeah, we were talking about Matt Prater before. Forty year old Matt Prater. He's still hopeful to return this season as their kicker.
So a good career.
Yeah, so keep an eye on that. Brice Hall with that knee injury, still struggling a bit with that knee injury. Keep an eye on that.
That was pretty much fifth fifty split undfortunately would be I would think Allan, it's a good matchup. They got the Jags this week and they favored, actually, well they're always favored for whatever some reason. Fire up Allan, Yeah you don't fire? Do you fire up the other? Dude?
Davis? I know it's fifty to fifty ish, but he looked okay, But yeah, I don't know if that's the way moving forward. Yeah, that would be like, I.
Don't think I'm running out to pick up pick Up Davis.
That would be more of a DFS start throw than anything. And he scored a touchdown last week, which means he's not scoring a touchdown two weeks.
Probably not right.
Ryan Kelly, it's gonna have his practice window open for the Coults.
Okay, so one of the I won't say one of the better centers, but solid veteran center. It goes along.
Yeah. Absolutely, Coming off of buye mentioned yesterday, Kadarius Tony waved by the Browns. Saw somebody in Jerry dule next week? Hey, should the Steelers sun Kadarius Tony? Are you out of your mind? Did you watch what he did Sunday? That's what he's done in his entire career. That's why he's been on three teams.
And he doesn't run routes. He just kind of runs around out there.
Yeah. The Browns did place Greg Newsom on IR for the rest of the year.
Wow, it's a big deal and he's one of their better players. They use a free agent after the year too, Yeah, he might be. He's done, played his last game in Cleveland. The Browns also signed place kicker Riley Patterson to their practice squad kind of they have a kicker injury or no.
Dustin Hopkins has just been bad. They gave him money and he's been bad.
Yeah, we talked about a lot AFC North kicking is really a problem right now.
Uh, Zamir White lands on injured reserve. Yeah, this season is done. So again, you know, Cormick is sincere McCormick is.
I think he's closer to like an RB two now than a dart throw type dude.
Yeah, they're just gonna see what he is. Run it out there with him. Why not?
I mean, he'd love not to have If you could not have a running back need this offseason, that'd be great. They have so many others. Yeah, I mean you can find running gigs.
But yeah, yeah, they don't have to waste a third round pick on a running although this is a great running back.
It's a really really good running back draft.
Yeah. The Saint signed Ben Denucci to their So that looks like.
Carr has two things. He's a concussion and he has.
He's not playing and they split practice time today. They're not They're not going to make an announcement.
Until between Rattler and an neither one or great. No, I mean I think that hurts Camara, that hurts it hurts everybody. I mean they're not gonna score many points. No, they are definitely not.
Yeah. So that's where we're at with all the injuries and stuff at this point. And again, this is this is the time of year when you, even if you've got to buy this week, pay attention to these injuries and what's going on. Because if you can block somebody, yeah, from making a movie trouble, Yeah, you just make the block moves. It's not being a jerk, it's not being you know, no.
That's just part of fantasy football.
It's all part of the strategy of this game.
Yeah, the bottom of your roster this time of year is important, but it's fine if it's fluid too. Yeah, you know, just keep churning guys out and dart throws and okay, I picked up Grendo and now he's out. Move on, give me somebody else, you know me see you know, even if you're playing defense.
Absolutely absolutely, but let's get to a break, all right, that's going to do it for the Fantasy football focus. Matt and I will be back with more right after this.
At least.
He's the drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on your twenty four to seven Home of the Black and Gold cast in Steelers Nation Radio.
And we are back. I'm Dale LOLLI he is the Matt Williamson and Matt looking here at every couple of weeks. Here every few weeks, ESPN will update their top ten rookie rankings for the season.
Oh yeah, okay, and I thought we take you don't have to be a pretty good rookie class. I mean the quarterbacks are really good. The offensive side of the ball is a really good rookie class. Yeah, really down for defense.
A couple of guys who were on the guys who just missed. There some guys who received top fifteen votes from the panelist, Drake May, Braden Fisk, Dominic Pooney, Drew Phillips, the cornerback.
From the Gas Giant, good player.
The guys who just missed were Bucky Irving.
He's had a really good year. It's a nice pick up in the mid rounds.
Yeah, Caleb Williams and Lad Mconkie those are the just missed. Yeah. I mean it kind of gives you an idea of what the what this rookie class is right.
Right, like he like, you might want to put May ahead of Williams, but Williams started every game. I mean that's yeah, there's a lot to be said for that. You know.
So they took their panelists and they came up.
With some Eagles and Steelers on here at least once year.
Yeah. Uh so there's a time for tenth place, and it went to Cooper dejen.
I'm not actually surprised he's on higher, but it's a really good class. Yeah, he's a nickel back, but he does a lot more than that.
This goes to our our point when we're talking about getting the Eagles into a heavier package here, keep Cooper Dejene off the field.
Yeah, he's a real playmaker. It's exactly what we thought he was in the draft. Yeah, you and I can considered him in the mid first round for the Steelers, you know. I mean, yeah, he can also play outside, but he's best near the line of scrimmage.
It's a good player. Yeah, he is tied for tenth with Brian Thomas Junior the Jaguars.
Wow, this is.
Another guy we talked about. Yeah, possibly for the Steelers.
I mean, if you wanted a size speed down the field. Imagine him off as the pickens.
You know, right, imagine if you still if you had him right now, and I still like.
That doesn't mean if Photon is gonna be bad or anything. Yeah, I mean he would be a really good Steeler.
Yeah. Number nine Marvin Harrison Junior.
I don't know if he's had a good years with other dudes.
Yeah, I mean if you just look at the numbers, it really hasn't been overall.
I mean, if you'd have been a fifth round pick named Williamson, he wouldn't be on this list. I mean, not that he's been bad, but yeah, he has a separator as explosive as like Maconkey.
Yeah. At number eight, Joe Alt, Yeah.
He missed a little time, got hurt in the Steeler game, but he's been really, really good and he's going to be ten year, you know, pro Bowl type guy.
At number eight, I'm sorry, tied for six. There's a tie for six, and that is Zach Frazier. Okay, he's the highest ranked the lineman, highest ranked offensive lineman on this list.
And I wouldn't hold a couple you know weeks he missed away from too hard on him either, like Latham hasn't been great, if Waga hasn't been great, Jets dudes just starting to play more Steelers, dude good and you know he is out, you know, so as good as his tackle class looked, it might be hasn't lived up to in year one.
Yeah at number X tire time for six, I should say with Zach Frazer Malik Neighbors.
Wow. I mean he's had a phenomenal year and the fact that he's cooled down isn't his fault at all. I mean, he's he would be my receiver if I could repick this thing.
Number five, QUINNYA.
Mitchell. I don't think he'll win Defensive Rookie of the Year. I'm sure there's another name coming up, but I think he's a clear number two.
The one thing that the.
He plays a lot of.
The one thing that the Egles cornerbacks don't do is they haven't taken the ball away. No, they don't have an interception by a cornerback this season.
No, you had some interesting there's a lot of interesting stuff about their takeaway stuff too, Like I forget what the stat you.
Mentioned, twenty two forced fumbles this year. They've only recovered seven.
Yeah, terrible fumble luck. Yeah, but they don't hardly ever turn the ball over either. You know, Hurts has not thrown a lot of picks, but you're right, their secondary doesn't have many picks collecting.
He has ten. He has ten pass breakups and no interception interceptions. He's taking the reservation. He's not keeping the reservation.
Maybe that's comes year two or whatever. You know.
Uh.
Number four bo.
Nicks sure had a really good year. Keeps getting better.
Number three Jared Verse, Yeah, I think he's gonna be defensive Rookie of the Year.
Mitchell's good, but versus stats and impacts the game more.
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised that he got He's that much higher than Fisk has been pretty good.
You're all quality.
I get it really good.
Yeah. I almost said that when you said he's a just miss, Like, wow, he couldn't crack the top ten. But top ten are really good. Yeah, top ten's really good.
Number two Jade and Daniels, Okay. Number one brock Bauers, Yeah, I mean he probably for Offensive Rookie of the Year. I don't think I'll win it. I mean it's gonna be a quarterback probably, but he's been unbelievable. And Daniels, I mean, Daniels has twenty eight hundred passing yards, fifteen touchdown passes, five hundred and ninety rushing yards, and six touchdowns.
Okay, so I mean he's been you know, he's been great.
Yeah, and they're eight and five and you know all that good stuff.
He's un loaded with guys around him.
Either Knicks has twenty eight hundred passing yards, seventeen touchdown passes, three hundred and four yards rushing, four touchdowns.
He hasn't missed any time Daniels did. But Daniels was way ahead of him two months in. Yeah, basically before the Steeler gets.
Daniels is the way tougher guy to play against.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean if we were repicking now, Daniels might be the first pick of the draft. Yeah, you know there's an argument for that. No, it's a really good rookie class.
Yeah, I is Bowers. Bowers is good, Hen'll get me wrong. But is he is he a generation old talent at the position or is he just the only game in town for the Raiders kind of like Neighbors. Neighbors is the only game like he gets thirteen targets a game, You're gonna catch a bunch of passes.
I think Neighbors is more generational than Bowers, just more gifted. I know Bowers, and I mean that for a tight end and for a receiver, not against each other. Of course, the receiver is more explosive than the tight end. And I get the Bowers love, and I think he's exceptional, but I don't know that he's special. I mean, I think he's really really good. He's super competitive, he's great after the catch, even going back to Georgia. He gets hand offs, you know, the weird stuff like that. But like again, I mean just happened at this conversation this morning. We were talking about dynasty tight end ranks, and he's clearly the first one. I mean, it's not even close. But I said, I trade him right now, like while his stock's super high, because they're probably going to add a quarterback and a receiver and a new coach staff, and like, is he going to keep growing in terms of production? Where he's at now, there's almost nowhere to go but down. Yeah, you know, I love them. I mean I wish he was a Steeler. He's a really good player, but I don't think he's the next Kelsey or Kittle. Yeah, you know what I mean, good player, great player. Yeah, so much is so much of great production as a rookie though.
Everything on here, so much of it is about opportunity.
Absolutely, absolutely Again, like him and neighbors walk into a situation where you're the only show in town. Yeah, and Harrison hasn't been as impressive as them on tape, but McBride deserves more targets than Harrison, right, you know, it's where they're at right now in their career.
Yeah, Like like.
Mconkey has a little of that, or he's starting to and then he's kind of getting injured, you know.
Yeah, where you know, some of the defensive players on here are producing because they're they their teams need them to produce. Or the offensive lineman, like if you're starting is not like to your point, there's some offensive linemen who are out there starting a rookies, but they're struggling.
They're struggling, right, and which isn't uncommon corners. I know lineman his rookie struggle a lot. I think there was some I did look at that article. There was some stuff like most disappointing, and there was some other categories at the bottom. Yeah, and I hadn't realized how much the Bama vikings the end.
Dallas Herner is one saying yeah, and it came in game one.
Yeah, right, So I didn't love him coming out. I thought Will Anderson was a much better prospect. And I don't think Anderson's special special, but they're getting nothing out of that guy.
Yeah, it's it's, you know, some of the stuff with the Bama guys and some of these bigger.
Programs, Georgia has some of it.
Yeah, Like you wonder if it's the player, is he that good or is he good? Is he that good because everybody around him is also good and therefore it elevates his play because you can't just focus.
It's it's a different kind of evaw. I mean, the fact that they can get on the field of those programs speaks of all beat out the other d tackles. But a lot of these Georgia guys. This isn't the best week to talk about it because Jaalen Carter is the exception, but these defensive players for Georgia haven't quite lived up to the billing.
Jordan Davis is nothing.
He's not special, not specially. I kind of wonted the Steelers had taken him. I'm glad he didn't.
You know that in that class the Kobe Dean struggled his rookie he's been better, finally, he's been better this year, but he's still his year three for him. Yeah, he's still not un.
Walker with the Jags. And once again there's going to be several Georgia defensive players drafted high in this upcoming draft. They've been fine, but they haven't lived up the super high draft status.
Like Dean would be a guy I would attack with the Steelers tight ends. In this game, he's given up thirty six catches on forty seven targets. He's undersized too, for four hundred and sixty four yards. Wow, I didn't know, so it's more than ten yards a catch. Yeah, yeah, Like you can go after this guy a little bit.
I mean, his his claim to fame as he was like the leader of those Georgia teams. He's the green docs guy. He gets them all lined up, he's the captain.
But has been the better player this far.
Yeah, I think Bon's been one of the best off the ball linebackers in the entire league. Yeah, that's a real fine.
So I think you can. I think you can kind of target Dean and and you know, go after again. We want to we want to go big and keep you know, keep not Carter on the field, but Davis on the field where these guys out.
He's not used to playing a bunch of snaps, No, and his pads can get high. I mean, he's really physically imposing, but he's a work in progress and he's never played snaps going back to Georgia.
Yeah, and then the other the other defensive tackle for the for the Eagles is Milton Williams. I like Milton Williams as an athlete, great athlete, but he's undersized, so he's a little smaller.
He's kind of the anti Davis. He's the energizer bunny. But you can double them and move them. Carter's the blend of all the above, the good stuff.
And if there's one area that you can, you can't. The Eagles don't give up a lot. No, they've been very good against the pass, but they do allow I think it's four point three yards of carry against the against the run that nobody sticks with it though, because they're behind.
Yeah, that's one of the problems, is the hope that you can keep feeding your backs over and over in this game. Another Georgia guy they have who I like, Nolan Smith was a late first round pick two, but he's light too. I mean, he was a great athlete that you can run at. I mean if you get Moore or Jones blocking him, or Washington his old teammate, if Pickens would have played in this game, they've been a lot of Georgia Georgia stuff when the Steelers had that.
As it is, there's gonna be a lot of Wisconsin.
I guess, so I didn't thought of that that, but they're definitely is bond as a I'm sure he's buddies with the Watson whatnot.
Yeah, so I guess some of that going on both sides. But let's get to a break. He is the Matt Williamson I am Dale, Lolly. You're listening to the drive here on the Steelers Audio network, And uh, Fraser isn't the only Steelers rookie offensive lineman starting right now for this team. There's a guy right next to him is also.
Should be too far off that rookie list either.
He should he should be he should be mentioned on there because he's played really well. Yeah, and he's played a lot and uh well, he corrected me on this during the conversation we had earlier today. I thought it was eight. I thought it was like nine starts, ten starts. He said, it's been eleven.
Has it? Okay?
This one goes to eleven eleven? Huh So these uh, these Steeler rookie offensive linemen are they should be well adjusted to the NFL schedule right now.
So long season.
We'll hear from We'll hear from Mason McCormick when we return right after this on the Drive.
At least he's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on your twenty four to seven Home of the Black and Gold in Steelers Nation Radio.
Welcome back. I am Dale Lolly. He is the Matt Williamson and Matt kind of one of the We've talked about it lot of this show, but the two rookie offensive linemen starting for the Steelers. I think one of the big reasons people ask about why, you know, why the improvement from the first time around against the Browns to the second time around, And I think part of it was largely because you know, the Steelers lost the line of scrimmage in that game against Cleveland the first time around. Yeah, in a big way, because you had two rookie linemen who we're going through playing a game on four days rest for the first time in their career.
Yeah. Yeah, and didn't do it in high school, didn't do college.
You just never do that, and so there was a learning process there. They've now dealt with that once. And I bring us up because they've got three games in the next eleven days Sunday, But those guys have played, you know, reasonably well. And one of those guys this week might have the best. The biggest matchup in this game. It's miss McCormick against Jalen Carter.
There's so many to look at, Lane Johnson again, TJ. Watt, AJ Brown versus Porter, and there's there's a lot of heavyweight matchups. And McCormick isn't in the same level as those names I've mentioned, but he's having a heck of a rookie year and I think he's a long term fixture at the right guard spot for you. But the guy he's gonna block off and is Jalen Carter, who is a nightmare. I mean, he's really really coming into his own. I thought he was the most talented player in that draft. We know why he fell, and he's becoming an elite defensive tackle. So he's gonna have a difficult test.
And he rarely comes off the field, right, right, he's playing more and more. Yeah, there are other guys are all below fifty percent. He's out there eighty plus percent in every game. So McCormick's gonna see him and see him a lot.
Yeah, we're gonna see him a lot. I mean sometimes, I mean everyone moves defensive lineman around, but kind of like the Steelers where Cam goes against the left guard a lot, Carter goes against the right guard a very high percentage of the time, usually to his outside shoulder, so you know where he's at. But that doesn't mean stuff.
Right, Yeah, So I took a minute or two to talk to u accormick about that today.
Buddy Roger Jones, who didn't think of this till now, but they were teammates at Georgia, right, and so maybe he has a little insight, then smiled a little there. Yeah, double team too.
A little bit there. So, uh, as I said, I talked to Mason about that matchup and a little bit more this morning. So let's hear what McCormick had to say. You got the h the five star matchup this week. Mike started talking to you about that one.
Yeah, I mean we we uh we obviously know Jalen Carter and them. They have a really good defense line. They're really really good across the board, and it's it's an exciting challenge and we got a lot of work to put in this week to prepare for.
Is just a one man job or just a multi man job?
Stop the Jalen Carter, I don't know.
We kind of defends, you know, certain place it's called for certain certain things, and so we'll see as the game play develops how how.
We want to attack it.
He's the one guy at the censer front that played high percentage.
I think he's at like eighty two percent. The other guys are all under fifty.
So he's pretty much out there pretty consistently. Is that because he is so disruptive or you just think he's.
That that kind of Yeah, I would say it's it's a little both. I mean, he he plays super hard, and plays extremely well, who makes a lot of plays. He's a really really good player. So I mean, if I was a defensive coach, I probably wouldn't want to take him off field.
You like that, that kind of challenge of when you have to when you're facing a guy again.
Yeah, I mean it's exciting. You know, you want to put your talents on display, and to put go against guy like that who's really really good, is exciting?
Is it?
Are you at the point of the season now where you're kind of getting getting into the swing of this pretty well? I mean, well, you got eight starts now at some point at nine, ten ten. See, I'm even less than that, so ten starts into this yet, I mean, do you feel like, Okay, I got a pretty good grasp on.
What got what I need to do every week?
Yeah? For sure, I've definitely got link to more of a routine. It's it's been evolving week to week, you know, just learning and picking up different things. But I'm definitely getting more more and more comfortable with.
And with these i mean three games in eleven days. It's something I'm sure you've never done before with most people. Just having that kind of comfort level at least knowing what you need to do personally on a personal level. Does that help in that kind of situation?
But yeah, I mean I try not to look too far forward with that stuff because you just never know how a game is going to go. Some weeks you might be super sore. The next week you might not be sore at all, you know, and so it's just kind of depends how the games go. Obviously we're gonna look to take care of our bodies and you know, just just keep growing as the season goes.
Is it cool kind of going through this with Zach at the same time, you guys are both kind of and save and really broader on the other side, has just basically gotten just over seventeen starts in his career as well.
He's kind of all new for all of you guys.
It's it's really cool, you know, playing with Zach and Broad and both young guys like myself.
It's been really cool to grow and evolve in this game together.
I think we can just just keep stacking, keep getting better. Good things will happen.
Thanks an appreciate you, Thranks. That was Steelers guard Mason McCormick with me earlier today talking about the matchup against Jalen Carter and well, just where he's at in this rookie season.
Yeah, and as great as Carter is, McCormick's gonna have to get used to these type of dudes.
Yeah.
I mean, like the college he came from isn't the SEC and this is the NFL. Now, there's a lot of freaky defensive linemen in this league that he's gonna have to deal with. And I like his chances. I mean, I'm talking big picture. I mean I think and I love his playing him.
I mean, I'm sure you're gonna double team. You're probably gonna help out.
Him there as much as you possibly can.
Yeah, so that'll be interesting for that matchup. We'll see how that one goes. But Matt, that's going to do for the show today.
Yeah, good stuff.
