Episode 160: Vivid Creatures at the Morton Arboretum, Raging Waves water park, El Tapeo restaurant and Venetian Night!

This week on the show, a plethora of activities for adults, kids, the partiers celebrating the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day festivities and the cultural enthusiasts into dance theatre and dance ensembles.  First up, it’s almost St. Patty’s Day in Chicago and that means GREEN everything, including the dying of the Chicago River.  We’ll take you to the best places to get an up close and personal look, as well as the bird’s eye view of the biggest celebration in Chicago every March. 

 

First up, we’ll talk to Grace Fuller from City Cruises to tell you how to hop on board a boat to see up close and personal how the river is dyed green!  Then, we’ll keep the party going as we talk to Kevin Kelly, the marketing director for the Royal Sonesta downtown so you can save your seat on a rooftop and along the water with plenty of corned beef and cabbage, live music and celebrations from the Riverwalk all the way to the penthouse level, 39 stories in the air! Next, we’ll put on our dancing shoes for two amazing shows!  First, we’ll tell you about the Evanston Dance Ensemble's upcoming rock 'n roll-inspired show “Ramble On” happening March 19-22 at Northwestern University.  Artistic Director Enid Smith gives us a preview of the show will feature world premiere dances in a variety of styles set to the music of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and more!  Then, we head to the Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble where founder Ellyzabeth Adler gives us a preview of the upcoming “Architecture of Memory”, as well as their upcoming programs for kids and adults! Finally, it’s time for the kids to have some fun!  CAMP Chicago has launched a Paw Patrol adventure as the perfect activity for young kids to expend some energy - and imagination! First up, Andrea talks with rock and roll legends - Vicki Peterson and John Cowsill, who will be performing at the Des Plaines Theatre on March 6th, along with the Smithereens! Vicki co-founded the Bangles and went on to chart topping success in the 80’s, 90’s and beyond and John has played with his family’s band – the Cowsill’s for decades. Next up, we visit with Malcom Young with the Sons of Cream, coming to the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles on March 8th.  Malcom (Jack Bruce’s son) and Kofi Baker (Ginger’s son) are touring the country performing the music of the legendary rock band Cream on their “Half and Half” tour!  Malcom talks about performing in Chicago, having Ron Onesti make him pasta, and 60 years of rock and roll!
