2024 is still in its early days but nearly three weeks into January, Kevin Milne is starting to get a sense of what the year has in store for him.

He told Francesca Rudkin that this is the time of year where you have to look for omens, and with a speeding ticket and an insurance refund it’s already looking like a mixed bag.

Kevin Milne: Omens for what 2024 has in store

Running a marathon is a task on many people's bucket lists – whether that be a half or a full. 

Some even dedicate themselves to ultramarathons – running 60 kilometres every day for 28 days. But most people don't run it in the coldest, windiest, and driest desert on Earth, enduring sub-zero temperatures and 100 kilometre winds.  

Donna Urquhart, a pain doctor, undertook that exact Herculean task, picking up a Guiness World Record for her efforts and has written a book about it – 'Life Without Limits'.  

She told Jack Tame the idea came about in 2021, when she was watching a video podcast in which Australian polar explorer Eric Phillips was talking about his expeditions in Antarctica. 

"I was just captivated by listening to him and also watching some of the footage," Urquhart explained.  

"I've always wanted to go on a big adventure ... I thought, oh wow, I wonder if you can run in Antarctica, and if so how far can we go? And that was the beginning."
