View descriptionShare

Darwin has been shaped by its connection to Indonesia for generations. In fact, it’s likely that annual fishing expeditions by Macassans from Indonesia to the Top End was the first ongoing contact between Aboriginal people and a foreign culture. Indonesian law student Nabila Majid, is proud of that history and shares stories of her family’s migration, and her own experiences of growing up as a young Muslim woman living and working in Darwin.

Salty Plum Stories is a Discover Darwin podcast for the City of Darwin.

It was produced by Lori Uden and Cinnamon Nippard, with editorial support from Johanna Bell and mixing by Hamish Robertson.

The incredible soundtrack was composed and mixed by Kuya James and Tutup Mulut.
