Mozambique ruling party leads early election results as opposition cries foul 

Mozambique's ruling party Frelimo was leading provisional election results in all 11 provinces on Wednesday, while opposition parties cried fraud and one called for a strike.  

Independent candidate Venancio Mondlane, seen as Chapo's biggest challenger, said he was in the lead according to his own tally and called for a nationwide strike on Monday, Oct. 21. 

Full results are expected on Oct. 24.

The Star newspaper appeared for the first time in Johannesburg as The Eastern Star. It was founded in Grahamstown under that title on January 6, 1871, and was moved to the Witwatersrand sixteen years later by its owners, brothers Thomas and George Sheffield.
