This young mother's baby is among 44 babies born today so far, in hospitals across the province. Gauteng police uncover sizeable drug lab in the Westonaria

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on the Gauteng Provincial Government to clean up the province and Johannesburg and make them presentable ahead of the G20 summit. The president has undertaken similar visits to Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo. Ramphosa says the G20 summit affords the country to make a mark in history. Meanwhile, the latest Quality of Life survey in Gauteng has found that it is becoming harder for residents of the country's bread-basket province to get survive. The survey's 33 indicators indicate that more than half of those interviewed believe government officials do not put people first.

The Universal Healthcare Access Coalition (UHAC) has slammed the draft regulations that Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau has published. The draft regulations have set out a new tariff determination framework for private healthcare in the country. The UHAC  says the use of an exemption provision to the Competition Act to manage health policy is questionable and open to legal challenges. The health organisation (UHAC) says The government's proposal to implement only minor selected recommendations of the five-year-old Health Market Inquiry (HMI) in order to address high costs of private healthcare will "do nothing" to advance urgently needed reform of both public and private healthcare. Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi recently complained about how private hospitals operate like airlines or hotels charging patients depending what targets the hospitals have to reach.
