The fraud case against Northern Cape's acting HOD for the health department, Dr. Deon Tuys has been postponed to the 9th of June this year, for pre-trial consultation. Tuys briefly appeared in the Kimberley magistrates court today. It is exactly a year since the Covid 19 National Disaster was declared. This led to the pronouncement of a national lockdown, which started with strict regulations. Most businesses were completely shut during the hard lockdown. Regulations were relaxed as the spread of Covid 19 was brought under control, but most businesses could not re-open as they could not survive for weeks without any cash flow. The country is currently under alert level one but nightclubs are still not allowed to operate. Police in the Northern Cape have recovered some of the livestock cattle that were stolen from a farm near Vryburg in the North West. 98 Bonsmara and Charolais crossed cattle were stolen last week. An alleged diamond dealer who was found in possession of over 2-hundred diamonds has been arrested in the Northern Cape. Port Nolloth police say the 57-year-old man was arrested following a tip-off. Police confiscated diamonds, diamonds testers, digital scales and over 32-thousand-rand in cash. Residents of Makweteng Township in Barkley West outside Kimberley are calling on the department of Education in the Northern Cape not to let the construction of a school in the rea to collapse following abandonment of the project by the contractor. Unfinished school construction a concern to Barkley West residents

A Kimberley family who lost their daughter and her two children in a shack fire last week said they were forced to pick up the remains of their loved ones after the police's forensic team failed to do it. The 30-year-old Patricia Sekgoro and her two children Kitso and Bokhutlo were burnt to death on Friday evening at Snake Park informal settlement in Galeshewe.
