Suid-Afrika vier vanjaar drie dekades van grondwetlike demokrasie, 'n belangrike mylpaal sedert die land se eerste demokratiese verkiesing in 1994. Die aanvaarding van die Grondwet van Suid-Afrika het die grondslag gelê vir 'n samelewing gebou op menswaardigheid, gelykheid en vryheid. Sedertdien het die land beduidende vooruitgang gemaak met die vestiging van demokratiese instellings, maar daar is ook steeds uitdagings soos ongelykheid, werkloosheid en diensleweringsprobleme. Ons het op Monitor hieroor gepraat met advokaat Anne-Marie de Vos, 'n grondwetlike regskenner, en ook 'n oud-regter.

The event, held at Johannesburg's Apartheid Museum, will also launch Human Rights Month, themed "The Bill of Rights at 30: Making Human Dignity Real". The Constitution, which has been in effect since February 1997, reinforces South Africa's democracy, marking three decades of progress.
