Anxiety among children and adolescents is increasing, with studies suggesting that as many as one in eight children experience significant anxiety. Experts attribute this rise to several factors, including increased screen time, reduced physical activity and play, greater uncertainty in society,
academic pressure, overprotective parenting, and the influence of social media. Dr Stacey Ochse, Member of the South African Society of Psychiatrists, chats to Roger Goode about
the main factors driving this increase and shares some practical, everyday strategies they can implement to help their children manage worry and develop healthier ways of coping with stress and uncertainty.
