From an emotional farewell to an R&B legend to revealing stories about reality-TV money, an NFL reunion gone wrong, and a disturbing school assault, this episode delivers heart, headlines, and hard conversations. Rickey Smiley and the crew celebrate Freddie Jackson through fan memories and classics such as “Rock Me Tonight,” “You Are My Lady,” and “Have You Ever Loved Somebody”; Jackson died at 69, three days after his birthday, leaving a legacy that includes 10 No. 1 R&B hits. After publicly sharing his kidney disease diagnosis in 2024 and partnering with the National Kidney Foundation, the Grammy-nominated singer’s story also inspires an important discussion about screenings, blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney health, though no official cause of death was announced.

Gary With the Tea unpacks Porsha Williams’ revelation that her first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta paid roughly $60,000—and that she spent about that much on a party filmed for the show—using the exposure as an investment in building her own brand. The crew also weighs in on Odell Beckham Jr.’s frustration after the New York Giants released him three games into his comeback, when he had played 20 offensive snaps, received one target, and recorded no catches; Beckham said he accepted the veteran minimum, earned his roster spot, and felt blindsided, especially when facing his young son afterward. Finally, the show reports on a troubling locker-room incident at Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland, where seven junior varsity football players ages 14 to 16 were charged with second-degree assault after video showed teammates carrying and dragging another player while others chanted about putting him in a toilet; the student was hospitalized, the JV program was suspended, and the investigation continued.
