Ep80 Rigid thinking has no place in permanent weight loss

View descriptionShare

In today’s episode, Dr Lucy and Dr Mary chew the fat dogmatic thinking. They discuss Dr Mary’s recent diagnosis of gestational diabetes and that despite her low carb lifestyle, she may still require insulin. Lifestyle changes and medications are not mutually exclusive. Good health and self care is not an either/or situation. Optimising lifestyle may mean a reduction or even a cessation of medications but requiring medication is not a failure. They discuss the fact that many support groups espouse rigid thinking.. Dietary dogma is rife but humans are not one size fits all. Many people have felt shamed and marginalised by some support groups. Dr Lucy and Dr Mary discuss the principles of an effective support group and the things necessary for a support group to provide help and not harm.
