Beau Davidson takes the desk on Stinchfield Tonight with breaking fallout from a hung jury in Massachusetts and a nation heading into the 25th anniversary of September 11.
A Plymouth County jury spent seven days and nearly 40 hours deadlocked over Lindsay Clancy, the former labor-and-delivery nurse charged with strangling her three children — Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and 8-month-old Callan — in their Duxbury home on January 24, 2023. She does not deny the killings. The defense argued postpartum psychosis and lack of criminal responsibility. Prosecutors said she knew exactly what she was doing. Jurors sent three deadlock notes, including one written “with a heavy heart.” After a last-minute defense appeal to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court was denied, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial. The charges stand. Clancy remains at Tewksbury Hospital. Plymouth County DA Timothy Cruz now decides whether to retry her — possibly as soon as this fall.
One week from tonight, America marks 25 years since the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field near Shanksville. The 9/11 Memorial will add a seventh moment of silence for those later lost to 9/11-related illness. Names will be read. Tribute in Light will rise again. The question is whether “Never Forget” still means what it did on that day.
