In October, Deputy President Paul Mashatile announced the national dialogue, promised when the government of national unity (GNU) was established, would be held on December 16. The ANC has however, confirmed postponement of the national to early 2025. ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa would announce a new date for the dialogue. Former President Thabo Mbeki warned that a national dialogue should be urgently convened to give the new government a mandate.
