For many decades, the Department of Basic Education in South Africa has followed a longstanding practice of releasing National Senior Certificate (matric) results in newspapers and other accessible media platforms at the beginning of each year. This practice involves publishing only unique examination numbers associated with students’ results, without revealing their names or other identifying information.
