Dads in the picture is an organization founded on African fatherhood values and culture dating back to the 60’s and 70’s. This is primarily the day where a man was a protector and provider for children and families, respected as a head of the family. In light of the current challenges that are in one way or another attributed to the absence of fathers, we are looking to encourage and support men in this regard. The new milestones for health and safety in South African mining for the next decade are doable and will be driven by technological advances. The mine labour force is also likely to shrink, meaning fewer miners will be in harm’s way. South Africa’s mining sector, the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, and trade unions agreed last week at the tripartite health and safety summit on new goals to be reached over the next decade with the ultimate goal being “Zero Harm”. Nhlanhla spoke to partner at Webber Wentzel – Ken Coster and managing Director Mjaji Holdings - Dr Sizwe Phakathi.
