The Department of Energy has officially gazetted the commencement date for the Electricity Regulation Amendment Act, which was signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa in August. The Act will come into effect on 1 January 2025, with the exception of amendments to the definitions of "reticulation" and "distribution power systems" in section 1. Electricity Regulation Amendment Act Effective from 01 January

The M23 armed group has pushed deeper into the Democratic Republic of Congo’s mineral-rich region after capturing the key cities of Goma and Bukavu – the capitals of North and South Kivu provinces, respectively – in recent weeks. Security sources have told Al Jazeera that the Rwanda-backed rebels had entered Nyabiondo village, about 100km north of Goma and located on the road leading to the strategic town of Walikale in North Kivu.

Throughout the 1980s, he was a formidable force and he was voted as the Rugby Player of the Year in 1979, 1981, 1985 and 1987. Naas Botha was inducted into the Rugby Pass Hall of Fame in 2021. As a child, Naas Botha played several sports at a high level and he had dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. However, rugby was the sport where he truly excelled and he was selected to represent South Arica at U20 level.
