The Constitutional Court has granted blind and visually impaired individuals legal protection to convert copyrighted works into accessible formats without requiring permission from copyright holders. This follows a long-standing legal battle initiated by Blind SA, represented by Section27, which had challenged the discriminatory provisions of South Africa's Copyright Act. Bongi Gwala spoke to Section27 Human Rights Lawyer – Faatima Laher.
