The 2024 election year is the biggest in history with about 65 countries having headed to the polls, almost half of the world’s population. From Taiwan's general election in January to the U.S. presidential race now in November. In some countries, there are concerns about the resilience of democracy itself as political discourse has polarized or been warped by disinformation. Many of this year's elections have not been free and fair - or their results have been disputed.
