What did you do to find yourself again after the end of a long-term relationship?

View descriptionShare

You’ve been in a long-term relationship for years. You had your routines, your favourite restaurants, your mutual friends, your “we” plans… and then suddenly, it’s just you. And now comes the interesting part: What do you actually like?

Not what you liked because your partner liked it. Not the restaurants you went to because they loved them. Not the hobbies you picked up because they were things you did as a couple.

Maybe you realise you actually hate hiking. Maybe you discover you love going out alone. Maybe you start dressing differently, travelling, making new friends, dating again or simply spending a Saturday doing absolutely nothing without having to explain yourself.

That post-relationship phase can be a real experiment in figuring out what belongs to you and what was simply part of being a couple. So, what did you do to rediscover yourself after a long-term relationship? What did you try, what surprised you, and what did you realise you actually like now?

To help us unpack this conversation we are in conversation with Social commentator, Nombulelo Tyatya and Life Coach, ‎Raymond Motau.
