We see it in the numbers: 64.5% of South African children grow up without fathers, according to Stats SA (2021). But while the absence of a father can leave a gap, many boys are still being guided, protected and encouraged by social fathers - the uncles, teachers, coaches, mentors, neighbours and community leaders who step into that role with love and intention.
