We often think of our careers as being driven by our skills, experience and qualifications. But a comment from a colleague, criticism from a manager, being left out of a meeting, feeling overlooked for a promotion, or even a tone of voice can trigger something deeper within us. And sometimes, our reaction isn't really about what happened in that moment but it's about what that moment reminds us of.
These emotional triggers can affect the way we communicate, how we handle feedback, the decisions we make and even the relationships we build with colleagues. If left unchecked, they can hold us back professionally, even when we're talented and capable.
So, how do you recognise your emotional triggers at work? And more importantly, how do you stop them from controlling your career? Joining us for this conversation is Clinical Psychologist and Life Coach, Sindiso Mailula.
