Public sector unions are mobilising for nationwide protests against the Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS). This follows a decision to hike membership contributions by 9.8% this year, with a minor adjustment to 9.5% slated for April. Federations, including Cosatu, Saftu, and Fedusa, believe the scheme has abandoned its mandate of affordability. In 2025 GEMS implemented an increase of 13.4%, we speak to Isaiah Rangata, Organizing and Marketing Officer from PSA North West Provincial Office.

Those were the generations that didn’t just play games but they built the foundation for the global gaming culture we see today. For Thabo Tsolo, it all started with those after-school gaming sessions. Playing on his mom’s phone was fun, but everything changed the day he got his first PlayStation. Like so many kids of his generation, he spent hours immersed in virtual worlds not knowing that one day, he’d be creating worlds of his own. We speak to Thabo about his career as a Game designer and storyteller.
