Wellness days have become a familiar feature in the corporate calendar. We get invited to step away from our desks, enjoy a massage, attend a fitness session, have our health screened, or listen to a motivational talk all in the name of employee wellbeing. But are corporate wellness days actually addressing the wellbeing challenges employees are facing, or have they become a once-a-year box-ticking exercise? We are in conversation with Life coach and Wellness Counsellor, Coach Dipuo Zulu as we unpack whether employees are given access to meaningful mental health support throughout the year and if they can speak openly about anxiety, stress or burnout without fearing that it will affect their careers? Do managers know how to recognise when someone is struggling? And are organisations willing to look at the workloads, workplace culture and expectations that may be contributing to burnout in the first place?
