We spoke to Carol “Lizzy” Nyathi, a young farmer from Mpumalanga and founder of Lisima Farming Project. Starting with just 1 hectare, she now cultivates 3 hectares, supplying retailers and local markets. Armed with a degree in Agricultural Management and certified in food safety, Lizzy creates jobs, donates produce, and empowers women and youth. Despite facing water shortages, she continues to expand, inspiring rural transformation and women’s leadership in farming.

We spoke to Jooste Vermeulen, Executive Director of Business Development, about South Africa’s urgent organ donation crisis. With only 1.3 donors per million and just 0.2% of the population registered, thousands remain on waiting lists. Systemic gaps; like low awareness, poor referral practices, and cultural hesitancy—mean over 60 organs are lost weekly. Boosting education, coordination, and family consent could save countless lives across the country.
