High court has upheld an earlier ruling requiring that municipalities stop charging consumers unlawful electricity tariffs.
The judgment was delivered at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Monday.
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) and the South African Local Government Association (Salga) had sought leave to appeal a June ruling that declared the regulator’s method for determining electricity tariff increases “unlawful, invalid and unenforceable”.
