2024 was a remarkable year for elections as voters in more than 60 countries went to the polls. It also turned out to be a difficult year for incumbents and traditional political parties. WIth many countries rattled by rising prices, some found themselves divided over cultural issues and angry at the political status quo, but voters were clear in sending their message of frustration. We are in conversation with U.S Diplomat, Brooks Spector,  Lulu White, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Elections Management Consulting Agency of Africa and Advocate and Human rights activist and Election observer mission in the African Continent, Sipho Mantula about the election year that was.

Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) is rampant in South Africa, spanning across ages, in urban and rural areas, across all communities, genders, classes and all forms of social markers, and in both private and public spheres. Additionally, according to the latest crime statistics, a rape is reported very 12 minutes in SA. In the past year 1 116 children were killed and 1 501 were victims of attempted murder, while 25 196 children were seriously assaulted, and the conviction rate is minimal. We are in conversation with KwaZulu-Natal premier, Thami Ntuli and News24 Journalist,  Karyn Maughan.
