Mine is super safe. I guess compared to that, I would have had Turner stick around. Especially you know, now we're into the rewatch. But we're in the second season and we're watching and I'm just that that relationship between Sean and Turner, we're at the point where that's just starting to happen, and wait to see where that at home, my god, and see where that's so it's so emotional. And and then also you know we've been talking about on the pod, like the relationship with Bill, like the mister Feenie Turner stuff, which I just did never realized. It was so beautiful. So we didn't see any of the adult stuff as kids. No, him know what was happening.
Rusty were so good, We're like there were adults on the show.

Yeah, No, it was weird. No, Yeah, so I would definitely. Yeah, the fact that he disappeared in a coma is one of the saddest.
I'm also disappeared. I'm also really surprised that the foundation for that relationship was laid so early on, like it's already there. And yeah, so that's very that's a good one. That's very special.

Sit down, make yourself comfortable, everybody, The one and only, I said, the one and only Danny McNulty. How are you feeling, Danny? As you can see, Danny is wearing the shirt, and I see multiples of them out in the audience. You guys have been so supportive for those of you who don't know. We collaborated with Danny to put together this shirt and for every shirt purchase, proceeds went to Danny and also name me. And we don't have the totals all. Everyone was so generous and bought so many shirts, and we don't have the totals yet. We should have them sometime next month. But I did just want to know since you have come on the podcast and since the shirt has been out, can you tell us what the reception has been for you and how it has made you feel.
Yes, it's it's been quite moving. I was in a place after my mom's passing where I couldn't really get out of a hole that I was in, and lucky, luckily, I was contacted by these angels next to me here and they looked out for me, you know, and and brought me on that podcast. And when I when I did it and told my story, it was, Uh, it was very moving to to hear everybody's own feelings towards how they they related with what I was going through, or how how it made them sort of come out of their own shell in a sense. And uh, it's been it's been great. It's really gotten me not only out of the house, but you know, for Los Angeles, California, with these kids, so we're here and all of you wonderful people.

I had friends call me to tell me that they were crying listening to your episode. I mean people, Yeah, people, you normally don't cry listening to a podcast. We're like, no writer. I was in the shower and I listened to this episode and I was all it really, it was such a it was such a It's probably one of our best episodes because it was just so honest and you're so brave to share, you know, and and for all of us it was such a close sense of closure, you know, because it was such a you know, experience that just didn't make sense to us at that age. And uh, it's just it was so wonderful freely to do it.
It also once again highlights just the need to talk about mental illness. I mean, it's something that we have to talk about over and over and over again, and so it's just a completely normal conversation.
So we had so much fun with that. We really did. Now I have a question.

As I was saying, my mom passed from COVID in twenty twenty and we're doing a finally doing a memorial for her in Donegal, Ireland. So I'm going to find the family over and we're going to do a b a big Irish wake as they say, you know, for my mom, Kathleen, and I'm going to make a little memorial there for her as well.

Think back together. Now we've been we've been calling this the Bully Reunion. But I think on the show, you guys were referred to as thugs. Was it, yes, because we just watched the episode where he's like, I went to I was a thug intern and now look at me. Yeah, bully bullying was not as much of a thing. I feel like the phrase bully has become more popular only now.
I mean, and you're also just three of the kindest.
They could not have been cast more opposite of their actual personality.
Is there anything bad that we were actually trying to shed a positive light on bullying back then?
You know, like, oh, I think it's probably a good thing.
Yeah, I mean representing bullies, Yeah, positive.
Poetry, and they're just a positive.
But to that point, we have we have talked about it. One of the beautiful things about it is that it represented the humanity of every person. So what was what's behind the bullying? What's the psychology behind why you are the way you are? And for each one of you it was something different. So yes, I think you're right. I think there was a purpose for showing bullies in a kind way because we were supposed to embrace all people as just wounded birds.
It's yeah, it's I mean, it's something to be about boys world. That is that characters you guys were basically could have easily been one joke, right, And that's why I think you were brought on as as guest cast. And then I think because of your talent and that just work, they kept writing to you and developing these these characters so you have your own love entering was so good that it was like we've got to, you know, extrapolate the characters out.
So I have a question, then, were there any bad people in seven years of boy Mean's role, Like was there a character that was.
Later Yes, yes, right, he just wanted to hug you.

Though you guys walked in today the last time I stood next year was eighteen years old. Yeah, I mean it's been twenty nine years since we were all together.
I mean, since it has been twenty nine years since you guys were all under the same roof Blake. What are some of the feelings that you have now being reunited with these guys and us?
Oh well, uh, I think, like it's pretty surreal, you know, I think it would be hard to ignore the like existential wormhole of it, you know where you're like boom oh fuck, yeah, like what the fuck happens?

But you guys like look just like you know what I mean, Like you guys really look good like you look like you know what I mean. Like if I was gonna like try to aid you in a movie but made you want to look like really good, like things went well for you.

Well, I will say something that did come out on the podcast is there may have been a little bit of partying in the trailers that we were not a part of.
By that, you mean we were not cool enough to be invited.
To or we were all terrified of going to jail.
There's also there's no possibility or worse getting fired.

No, wait, so you's one of the things you guys talked about, both of you separately on your your episodes was that there was kind of a bond that you both formed right away.
Was that instant?
I mean, was it just right away you saw each other and we're like, we're friends.
It was day one for sure, and even to that point, like I haven't seen Blake in a number of years, and we bumped into each other in the hallway like an hour before we came here.
And it was as though no time had.
Oh that's amazing, Well, I haven't.
I haven't. A great thing should talk about. One of the things we discussed was that we've had as we've been watching the shows and we've been uncovering characters that we you know, one of the things we love about Boy Meets World is that all of our guest cast, most of them got very detailed backstories, and we learned more about who they were and what was really driving them. And as we've started watching the show, we've thought, Man, I'd really like to see more about that character. And sometimes even to my detriment, like t K. Danielle Harris, who played your sister in the Sister Teresa episode. She was so remarkable and so like dynamic. I wanted to see her and Corey date for longer so that I could see her in that family situation more. Can you talk a little bit about what that Do you remember that episode with her and what your relationship with her was like.
T K was amazing. She's still an amazing actress as well, but I think she could have totally taken over as the leader of the bullies scared of her, you know, and she you know, she obviously had that energy. But yeah, the way things went, I felt like I kind of abandoned these guys, you know, when everything happened, and I was so glad to see that they stayed on the show, you know, because they're both wonderful, wonderful individuals and actors.

So did you guys ever hear more? I know you we had talked to when you guys were on the podcast. We talked about what your experience was during that table read, when then ended up being Danny's last table read with us after the fact, Did anyone ever talk to you about what had gone on or where he was?
I went to see Danny in the place he was. Yeah, I went and sat with him. Yeah, he sold to me in my darkest hour. Yeah, nobody, nobody from the show properly talked to him, but I found out where he was and went and visited him.
Oh my gosh, that's amazing because we didn't know anything, you know anything.
It was just like and it was kind of like, just don't ask, You're fine, and as.
A kid, you're going, okay, I guess you know they're telling us not to ask, so I guess we shouldn't ask.
So we we just didn't know, which is.
Why getting back together with you and talking with you has just been so amazing for.
All At that time, the stigma of mental illnesses. You know, nobody was breaking down or you know, it just it just wasn't anything anyone wanted to talk about.
Yeah, yeah, god, that's changing.
Yeah, just anyway, I know, yeahs I'm still I'm just seeing them together is still so weird and I'm sorry, like it's so funny.
So one of the things we've talked about is potential spin offs. There seems like there could have been a spin off of several different but a Bully spin off. What what what would you guys have liked to have seen your characters do? Yeah, I mean, what's storylines? Imagine you guys got your own show. Any ideas I.
Would have liked to see Frankie navigate college? That would have been interesting.
Yeah, that would have been great.
College.
You guys did graduate in the in the in an episode, right, yeah, we did, Blake.
You guys came back and graduated. That was the last episode, was the graduation situation.
What would your major have been?
Literature?
Absolutely?
Absolutely? How about you, Blake?
You think of a storyline for Joey.
I mean, I like to think of a story where maybe Joey has like a nice little like a nice little bike shop in Rhode Island, a bicycle shop, you know, I know, settles down with a nice girl who's maybe a little bit on the fruity side, a little bit like organic compost kind of girl.
Okay, and she helps, you know what I mean, bring him out, Yeah, okay, you know what I mean, she's a.
Vegan let him down, like when I that's right, when I watch that show, like because I haven't watched I didn't watch a lot of it like us either, but in revisiting because I was trying to like do this any cana sit so I watched them and what I saw was me with a lot of anxiety, trying.
To get through the scene really so I can get off and get paid. But it comes across as a great man.
Yeah, yeah, yes, it comes across as like he's kind of really nervous. So I feel like this organic sort of compost girl, you know what I mean, take a breath, Joey, Yeah, like maybe smashing night soil with her feet in the backyard, you know.
What I mean.
And like it's so specific, it would be like a really good vibe.
Frankie shows up and a like a sort of gets into a toga thing. Harley comes and picks our ass and gets us back in the I don't know, that's just what's coming up.
I'm gonna be totally honest with you.
I would watch I would I would watch that shoe. Oh that's so funny, Danny, what about you.
I think it'd be nice to see like the relationship with t K and me, maybe if she had kids, and you know, it would be kind of like comical and seeing these guys come over, you know, and babysit the kids with me, you know, and do different scenarios, you know, just wacky.
I love that Uncle Hall would have bet that's it, just Uncle Harley.
I like that, Blake. One of the things we've talked about, and we've noticed your line readings are so musical. They're beautiful. It's like the way we had to pull a clip. I've pulled multiple clips when we've been you know, prepping for the episodes, because you know, normally I recap an episode, I go, okay, we're in the school hallway and mister Turner comes around and he says blah blah blah. Almost every time you say something, I refuse to say it. I'm just gonna be like, let's just play the clip, because it isn't even about the words that are said. It's the way you say them and the way you find a rollercoaster through each one. When did everyone here knows? At least I believe everyone here knows that you were also a musician for many, many years and still are a musician, although you don't really do it for a career anymore. By choice? Do you think you real? Like, did you take a musical approach to your acting or is it just the way you like it was?

Do you think that now you will maybe stay in touch since we had heard that maybe you guys had fault, not you didn't have a falling out, but just fell apart the way people do. Over this, you move on, you know, you grow, you move towns, something else. Well, before I get into whether or not you're going to stay in touch, can you guys tell us a little bit about what each of you are doing now and where you're finding just all of your passion and joy? What is bringing that to you these days?

I have to think about it and let them go first, and I'll work my way around.

Okay, I'm going for your on the spot now. Okay, Okay. I think about three maybe four, no, four years ago? Uh, I was having I was having my first and only child, and I moved to Nashville and decided to just shed my my artistic shackles uh and expectations of myself and decided to just fully become hardcore norm core daddy, just like fucking waking up at six and you know what I mean?
Well, I mean I don't, but yes, as a concept, I know the concept.
Yeah, and you know what you mean?
Yeah.
And I had bought a couple of houses in LA and so I I went to Nashville bought like some some commercial real estate and went into that, which was like terrifying and panic attacks and horrible. But then you wake up five years later and you're like, wow, that was cool. Like it's like rented out or whatever. They rented up.
But this is important, this is really important.
After doing the podcast with you, right, yeah, the podcast I did, I had that feeling, this really cool old feeling where I was like, oh cool, other artists like this feels really good, this feels really clean and right, and like what I'm who I am a little bit? Yeah, not the kid on Boy Meets World who's on a podcast, but just like a dude who like My favorite thing about working as an actor always was the community.
Always was the fellowship.
By far the acting I could take or leave, but the sitting at the table read with the bagel, you know what I mean.
Like bang rehearsals.
Yeah, man, that was the best thing.
Yeah, and so doing that with you guys, I was like, oh my god, this is like so cool. So I went to I met a buddy in Cuba where internet doesn't work. I know this is a long story, but it's an interesting one. After that podcast, and we decided to write something together and since then we've been writing every single day. And Danielle, you wrote me an ic e mail and I wrote you back and I said, you know, and you probably thought it was weird or something, because I wrote back like, yeah, that podcaster really I feel like it's serving as a springboard for like a new vibe something and it was just really beautiful.
So thanks for having me on. And that's what I'm doing writing every day, and that's been my like star.

Oh that is amazing. No, I did not, in any way think anything you wrote back to me was weird. I none of you guys would know this, but I reached out to Blake because you know, I had not Blake in twenty nine years, and there was a when we have talked with all of you, there has been something that even through Zoom, which is normally a cold medium and feels like, oh, it's disconnected. I wish we were all in the same room. But there is an earnestness and a sincerity that I think all of us share that really comes through, that transcends the Internet, that transcends probably the TV waves, Which is maybe one of the reasons why so many people have related to Boy Meets World over the years, is that all of us are you know. I think we're sincere people who believe in what we do, and I think that comes through. And so I wrote to you after because I just felt like, man, what a what a great feeling to talk with you and to see you in such a good place, and you did. You wrote me back a very nice thing. And I did not then respond back to that, because you know, it feels like, well, how many times are we going to write back?
And it was it was chat GBT anyway, So it's.
Right, exactly. It was like I was having to come up with the crues.

Well, similar to to Blake, it's you know, something like a fire has kind of started where I'm being more creative and I'm getting back with my agent and auditioning and things are.

No announcements yet, but I'm gonna try and convince these guys to do a few conventions in the future. Possibly possibly, maybe who knows, you know, but I'd love to be in touch with them more and uh, you know, be able to spend a little more time together and seeing them grow into fine young men that they are.
Danny, these were the bullies. I know you believe that it's like how it's so ratt Well, I will I will speak for everybody here when I say that everyone is thrilled to hear you say that you are starting to get back out there again. I know that you said when you were on our pod that you have struggled to find your identity now in the passing of your mother. Your mom was such a huge part of your life and to try and figure out now where you are without her physical presence here, I know has been a journey for you. And so the fact that maybe it is going to lead to you being in all of our lives out in entertainment, we are very happy about that. So best of left break a leg. Kind of and I go, do you remember me? And he goes, of course, he gave me a hug, and it was fantastic.
Yeah, Yeah, he's an amazing.
That's one of the things that we're again, we keep talking about this thing of being kids on the show and now watching it as adults. We're like focused on the adult performances more than anything else because it's just something we didn't register when we were younger actors or you know, selfish and thinking about our storylines there in school. And so the you and Bill together, that dynamic, especially season two, has just it's just taken this whole kind of new level. Because we've talked about mister Feenie and Corey kind of aren't together as much anymore, so they've made it like the two of you.
What was it like working with Bill that closely all the time?
I mean it was great. He was very matter of fact.
He was really professional, so there was no tom foolery or anything like that.
Well, I'm saying that actually makes me feel I want you to. I don't mean to interrupt you, and I'm going to because I have to say that hearing you say that makes me feel better because there was no tomfoolery with us as well.
No no, he wasn't even promiseful.
No no, no, no, no, no he was. He was all business, you know. He very rarely joked around or anything.
One of my favorite memories with Bill, Jeff McCracken was directing an episode Love Jeff McCracken and he was directing Bill and he said, you know, you come in and you do this, and Bill says, yeah, I don't feel comforted.
I don't want to do not doing that. I don't want to do that.
And Jeff goes, oh, okay, well what would you like to do? And he goes, well, I want to do this and come around that way and it feels more natural for me to do that, and Jeff goes, oh.
Okay, okay, and that's fine, you can do that, you know.
So he was directing and I thought, you know, he's making me do something, and I thought, you know what, I'm going to say something because Bill just did and he got his way and Bill was uncomfortable, and I said, you know, Jeff, I think it would be better if I came through this way and come out that way.
I think it would be a little bit becaues, Yeah, now we're not doing that, and Bill looked at me, he goes. That was one of the rare times I saw Bill laugh about something.
One of the best parts about hanging out with Bill now off set, like now that we're grown ups, is Bonnie being because she unlocks Bill. Like he really did maintain a professionalism on set. He kept his distance from us, and so besides rehearsal time we didn't see him, like unless he was in a scene. He was in his dressing room. But Bonnie coming down, and I remember we got invited to go. You actually went. I couldn't go because I had to work. I went, You got invited to was it? The ballet? Got invited?
So I grew up.
My family would take me to the ballet every year, and I became a fan of the ballet.
And Bonnie was very big in the dance company.
With the dance company in Santa.
Barbara danced up until like three years, like three years.
Ago, I mean, like an amazing dancer. And she said, this incredible Russian company's coming in. They're doing the Nutcracker. You and Ryder should come. So I was already nervous because this would be the first time I'd ever been with with Bill as a human, you know, like we're offset, we're not doing anything, and I just remember they're like, come up see the show and then spend the night at our house and Rider and I are like, we have to do that.
And so I get a page.
About five minutes before I'm gonna leave, and it's Rider. I then call him back the rotary and it's Rider going, dude, I can't go. Yeah, And I'm like, am I gonna really go and be with Bill and Bonnie alone in Santa Barbar.
I was like, I have to go.
I want to see this ballet company.
I'm gonna go.
I drive up there, I'm standing in front of the theater like ready to go, and I hear well and I look over and there's Bill who's had a glass of wine.
Or maybe too maybe with his arm.
He's got a jacket open, there's no tie, his arms are held wide over.
I'm so glad you met it.
And I was like, who is this man? Who is this man hugging me right now? And we had the greatest night in the world.
It was changing, dya.
I remember you came back and you were like, I saw.
Bill I just met Bill.
Yeah, and then after that he we hang out in his dressing room. He taught mem how to play chess. I mean it was like the whole You're right, the whole thing kind of changchanged.
And I feel like it was.
And then when Bonnie came on our show. I remember because she she she liked him in front of us, so she she was always jibing him, and it was just loosened him up.
It's and he would always be like Bonnie, It's like, no, come on.
One of the things we've loved watched like seeing the evolution of between season, like in the season two is it seemed like originally there was going to be you were going to be the foe to Feenie. You were going to be the young hip teacher, and this was going to be a source of conflict.
You had an earring, of course, I mean, how controversial can you get?
I mean exactly exactly. Everyone knows you were the controversial one on the exactly, so so you start, it seemed like there was going to be that dynamic. But then what I've loved is the way it has evolved is that there is such a very clear respect between the two of you or you enjoy ribbing each other. And it's funny because I think it's also the same way we talked about the humanity of the bullies, the way A Boy meets World would set people up to be opposing forces and then very quickly realize, you know what, I don't like the conflict between them. It's actually better when they're on the same team. And that's one of the things I've loved about where the Turner Feeni relationship has evolved to do you remember there being conversations, whether with you and Michael Jacobs, or you and the other writers, or between you and Bill about forming that dynamic in your relationship.
I don't remember any conversations. I think it just kind of happened, just with the way the writing was. What I really liked about what Bill would do with me is that he would always call me a ear ring boy, or he would throw jibes back at me to show me that he's still the one here and I'm here, you know.
And then I would do my little.
With the ski vest, you know your favorite Did you make that up?

I think you at I don't remember Michael Michael might have come to me at some point and says, hey, do some funny thing with the ski vest, you know, And I'm like, I don't know if it was funny or not, but it was.

Who I mean, I honestly had no clue who anybody was for the most part. Yeah, Buddy Hacketts. We had so many great legends on our show, and I was just too young and had no clue, so I can't remember.
I had some that were from smaller things that I love, like Arianna Richards came on and she had just done Jurassic Park, so that was really cool. Earl Bowen came on and he was in Terminator and all these great He was on Mash Mash Lake Clark Mash. So there was guest cast that we had.
That to me made me starstruck.
But they might not have been like the biggest stars in the world.
I was a big fan of the monkeys when the monkeys.

I know that I was very uncomfortable with the way it happened that, like, I know, Corey stayed back and Topega just went skiing, and they tried to set it up like there was some reason they really felt it drawn to each other. But I think I remember, and maybe I'll be maybe I'll be surprised when I see it. But I remember feeling at the time, like, wait, so, what's the connection he has to this woman that makes him throw his relationship with Tapega under a bus all to kiss her. So I remember thinking like, I'm not sure this is a worthwhile thing for to do to their relationship. But I don't know, I don't really know. I know they were also broke up several times. I know there's an episode where like I think I'm French. I've put on a French accent, I wear a beret.

So it sounds like there was a lot of laughter on set overall, And I was wondering throughout all seven seasons, were there any particular scenes that you remember where you kind of broke character because you were laughing so hard, or that were particular particularly difficult to get through.
I'm gonna throw this to these guys and see if they have one.
We were guest stars. We weren't allowed to break character and laugh.
Did you really feel, truthfully? Do you think you never like you were so concerned with being professional, we.
Did not have that freedom. I don't think do you that we could like mess up as if you could break laughing.
Yeah, certainly, not like lean into it and some kind of like played full ironic like he were all in on the joke, let's just do it. No, we were like sort of flatulating ourselves and getting back to the basis.
Yes, we were in trouble if we messed up a scene.
Oh man.
And yet it's so funny because you're right, there was a lot of laughter on set, and these two behind the scenes are true of the funniest ever.
And we like to do disruptive stuff and play jokes and have skits and bits and stuff like that, but never during a scene right right, and never around producers or anyone in authority.
That's actually true. I imagine we were probably still pretty in line by the time when these guys were on the show really was like season four and five, and we got more comp became way less professional, and then you know, you also realized, like when you're when we started the show, when you're in a live audience, you're so worried about messing up in front of them, and then you do it a few times and you realize that's why they came to the show, actually want to see you mess up. And so once you like realize that it's okay, you know, then it was it was fun. It was actually like part of the fun was losing it in front of the audience and then them losing it back.
Yeah, that's see.
Did you guys ever remember a time when you guys really broke.
I'm sure we did.
I don't remember specifically.
You made me laugh an awful lot. Oh yeah, just yeah, So I don't remember actually breaking. Maybe there was one time where I was trying to do something with Ben, but like something trying to I can't remember what I was doing, but there was just nothing really kind of sticks out.
But you have to remember we don't always remember all the episodes, especially me, so I don't know. Anyway, Sony, all you have.
To do is look at me, and I laughed.
There was a particular moment where you and I were in the scene where all the teachers were harassing you about your grade or your report or something like that. And remember all he has to do is raise an eyebrow, and I'm laughing. So the scene was you guys may remember this. One of the teachers comes out and asks him for his report and he's like, oh, yeah, that was that do and I didn't know that. And then somebody else, the ceramics teacher wants an ashtray or something like that, or you, somebody else asked for your report and you.
Go, uh yeah, I'll get that as soon as I get done with Saramix. And you looked at me and I.
Went, don't laugh, don't laugh.
And I really didn't want to laugh, and you looked at me and I went, you mean ceramics, and you went, yeah, the ashtray class. And then somebody else says something to you and you you said, yeah, Matthews, you.
Got to be and you go, yeah, see there did that hurt? I? Was literally that closed from just losing it because it was so funny.
That's my favorite thing is knowing all of you so well that when you watch the show, you don't see the break, but we what's there?
That was right, Yeah, that was tony. Although we did put out that call at the end of that one episode where Ben broke and we were like, could people tell, And we got a lot of comments that people could tell. Yeah, people could like it felt so natural. Yeah, but yeah, we can see it from a mile, especially me. I'm like, I have this look on my face and I'm about to.

Some of the other stuff where we broke a lot was and that people don't you see him? They last for fifteen seconds. But we used to have to do a lot of those, like from our family to yours Happy Holidays, and it'd be the whole cast and the Matthews couch and then they just stand on the other side and they'd be like, Okay, so you're just gonna say from our family to yours, happy holidays, and for some reason, all of us together trying to sink our voices, and like one person would be a little bit off, and we'd do it over and over again, and you feel already kind of cheesy doing it and then knowing which person's a little late, and then we would lose it and it'd be like they'd be frustrated because they just really want to get this little bumper or it's a two minute thing. But we would then be laughing and be like, Okay, we got to keep it together, everybody from our family to yours. So I remember a lot of those those moments where we would all end up.

So my question was for something that one of you guys did in season seven. I'm sure you guys will talk about it when it gets there, but I was rewatching myself and it's hilarious. So Danielle your eye quiver that you yes, My question was, how did you just do that?
Like you they knew I have this weird thing that my mom pointed out to me once where So my mom and I used to run lines together. My mom was my biggest support. She's the young We've talked about it many times. The unsung hero of Tapanga was really Jennifer Fischal, And I'd like to say she was here tonight, but she didn't want to drive up in traffic, so you can tell how supportive she is. Just getting love you, mom. So we used to run lines together all the time, and she would look at me if I had like a hair in my face or anything, and instead of her just telling me, she would start moving a fake hair out of her face. And so I could always tell when I was doing something or she wanted me to do something, because she'd start going and I'd be like, do I have a hair in my face? And she'd go, yeah, yeah, it's just like so she would like feel it on her. So one day we're running lines and she goes, why are you doing that? Where are you doing that? And I'm like, why am I doing what? She goes, one eye is opening before the other one. You're you're blinking, but one eye is opening before the other. And I was like, Oh, it's definitely not She's like, no, it is. It's like half a second, I promise you. It's like you open your eye and this one opens first, and then this one delays. And so then when I was repeating lines back to her, I just started being like, what are you talking about? It's definitely I don't know, I don't know what you're talking about. It's definitely not happening. And so we realized that I had this talent, if you will. And so when the time came that that episode of Boy Meets World was happening, and which is the wedding episode, right, the wedding episode, and Tapanga was supposed to be just fraught with anxiety and emotion, I pulled that talent out and showed my mom that it comes in handy.
You know.
That's one of my all time favorite moments on the show though, when he says Topanga, I love you, and then they cut to you and you're going, that was the funniest thing.
It was so it was so appropriate that you would make that face.

Uh childhood wasn't always the easiest, do you guys have like the show just everybody brought on such warmth, like everyone even the police, and you turn it on. I'd watch the show and you'd be like, Oh, everything's great right now.

I know the whole thing, like with sitcoms when you say laugh you got a hold for applause. I was on my I was watching I actually I think it goes on my second time watching it, and I got my wife to start watching it with me, and so we watched it all the way through. And I've noticed, besides the whole for applause, whenever Ben and Danielle would would kiss for an extended period of time, the wars would happen. You would usually be in this there too, And for some reason, I'd always be looking at you and being like, what is he doing right now? Well he waits for them to disengage, Like just do you go somewhere do you like to like pass the time?
I was just curious, you know the genius.
Actually it's a great question. I mean what really it is such a weird art form, like the thing about sitcom and like we we learned it by the pilot, but every time we'd have a guest star, if they hadn't done it sitcom, they wouldn't know to hold for laughs because it's so awkward. It's the weird and we haven't talked about it in the podcast. I've actually thought about this. It's such a weird skill that you have to like turn off your brain. You have to, like because if you change your facial expression, the audience will stop laughing. So you have to hold whatever, look your hold if you land on a joke. The other thing is Michael always used to say, never walk on a laugh. You can't move on a laugh. So you notice in sitcom it's like everybody's brain sort of pauses and you're all just in this like Arrest did. Like it's so weird and we're all used to it, but if you watch somebody not do it, if you have an actor like actually walking along it was a piece of Confederate every five minutes. Yeah, it's such a weird art. And I don't know, man, I don't know, Like we just learned it our brains just do you guys are at it? Thanks, But yeah, we would have stares come on and they wouldn't know to do that, and it would be a disaster, like the first take with the audience and they would be like, you got to hold for your laugh, and we'd have to teach them, you know, like well, it's.

I did mean the ashes up your story about writing every day was a real great bomb drop. So if you could just repeat that for us with this answer.

What I would want to re live is the moment I did Pod Meats World and I went from like suspicious because they kind of always seemed a little too nice on set, and I thought it was maybe a little bit patronizing because I was like lower cast, right, and they were like younger than me, so I was like extra humiliating.
And then when I did the like podcast, the.
Moment that it was like the twist ending where I realized they weren't faking it and they were authentically a collection of like the most warm, like profoundly and deeply sweet people you could like ever meet. And like when Danielle gave that like story about the island, like that was so well thought of it. And then when she said like you are with friends, she fucking needs it, and I so relieve in the moment I realized how much she means it for me. In the moment that I realized it, that's that's mine.
Does everyone we can't beat?
I was gonna say, once again, what do you got, Ethan?
I would like to redo the wrestling scene.

I would like to actually fight some of the guys I threatened to fight now you're ready, or go into it going like I know what I'm gonna I know what's gonna happen, and not react to them.
I would like one of those two. I'd like to re experience it twice.

I just want to go backstage to the moments before we were introduced to the audience. It could have been any night. Yeah, I would relive because we all gather backstage, we have our rituals. You guys have heard about a lot of them with like d D and there was candles involved, and there was a Buddha and there were scream will and I did this handslap and it's just like there's all these rituals that yeah, they're just like they're they're in me, and I would love to relive those together and that sense of like, oh tonight's the show night. It's just so exciting. So yeah, any any night of the of the seven years.

I would like to go back to the first answer Blake gave earlier tonight. No, I mine is actually I would. I want to go back to the moment I found out I got the show. It was a the the phone Bank, which was right across from the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum in Hollywood. The own bank was there actual payphones until like five years ago. And I could drive by the phone and my dad was there, and I didn't think I got it, and he said, call your agent, and I called my agent and I was jumping up and down the street. I was sixteen and I was on a sitcom, and it was just it was a wonderful moment in my life.
So that's the moment I would go back.
I would definitely go back to that first season, and I wouldn't go back to my Tapanga's first episode, because, as you guys have heard me talk about, there were a lot of highs and lows that week, but almost any other episode in that first season where I was just so wide eyed and so absolutely thrilled to be on that set and to be learning the things I was learning, and to be experiencing all the things that writer said like a part of, you know, a cast. I remember the first time I got the first invitation I got for the Christmas party. The invitation actually really said the first annual Boy Meets World Christmas Party, and I said to my mom, annual. That means it happens every year, and she was like, yeah, like what does that mean? But I just felt even seeing annual, I knew I was now part of something that if we were lucky enough for it to continue, it was going to be a family that went we were going to have this every year. It meant every year.
And I still have that here do you yep?
The invitation that stuff? Of course you do, you little horder, I do. So here we are now twenty nine years later, and we have this annual thing that I.
You know, it means every year.
It sure it does, and I love it ough fee.
I feel so much the same way that a lot of you talked about when we first would go out and we would bond and so on. And I have to say, probably the thing I was the most thrilled about is that when they cast Rusty because they didn't I had a different husband for the pilot, Matt McCoy, and he was great, but we didn't really have the same chemistry that I had with Rusty. And I was so relieved that I liked this guy that I thought it was cute, but it was not just that. It was just something clicked between us that I thought, Okay, I think we can make this last. And so that was really important to me because that was obviously we were a unit, and it was very important to have that. But I also just fell in love with all of you. Don't make me cry, and so I really did have that experience. And the thing about our set is that I had lots of actors that could guess star on the show at different times over the years, and they all commented and how kind everyone was and what a great cast we were and so on, and that's that's really great.
You know that there was no snobs.
There was no snobbing going on in any way. Then my favorite thing was when I got to be a Russian spy, which I sort of feel weird about about saying that now, but I said, but I'm not not happy about that. Okay, let's not go there. I'm just saying that I love to say you have the bag bush.
We've all talked about it so much on the podcast. But I know that the three of us certainly all thought that you and Rusty had known each other for decades, you guys, that you guys had together and you both wore clogs, and it was like both you guys both wore these clogs that you look like, you guys had matching shoes, And I just not, how were you not married in real life, you guys? And yet you know we love your spouse's too, But there you guys did you had such a such a great chemistry and it was so it was palpable to everybody who watched and to all of us on set, and thank you for blessing us with Thank you, Tony, thank you Rusty. Wish you were here.
If I could go back and experience it wouldn't be one moment, it would be a series of moments.
I mean, I loved working with.
All of you, and I think the whole cast just had great chemistry with We all had great chemistry with everybody. But the things that I really look back on that show and cherish is the relationship that writer and I had, the things that they had us doing.
I really feel like we were on track to become one of the great screen friendships.
Because just the nature of our relationship was you were teaching me, I was teaching you, and I could tell that.
We really loved each other.
And I would like to go back and experience those moments again, fresh every time, because it was always so wonderful to work with you.
