Now he's responding to the changing climate through diversification and thinking about what future there might be for Christmas tree growing on the farm.

Why the Summer drought might mean Christmas without the tree

As homes across East Hampshire receive their food waste caddies, we speak to people in Petersfield about their approach to household waste management.

Nell, Katia, Ben and Maggie are young people with a variety of food waste experiences, from living with a chef to virtually oblivious about the whole thing.

Paula and Henry are visiting Petersfield and have some experience of welcoming a food waste caddy into their home. They talk about compostable bags and feeding the birds.

And Dougie Newbigging is fascinated by the new contraption. He says it's "brilliant".

Your food waste caddy experiences

Another big week in the football as the the Men's sides take a break from league action and take up the respective tasks of progressing in their cup competitions. Petersfield the Men's Rams have 2 ties in a week as they head to Gosport for a midweek tie against a side 2 leagues above them. And their second match is for the much-coveted FA Vase competition where they host Andover. https://petersfieldtownfc.co.uk/ . Liss Athletic have struggled for goals in recent games but have also started leaking too many goals at the back. Southsea Sports beat them 4-1 last weekend and now they head back to the same venue and club but this time in a cup match. https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/lissathletic/ . Liphook Town 's form is the most unpredictable of them all but they most definitely demonstrate potential on their day. Women's football is now truly underway and our sides suffered a 'baptism of fire' in their first week in their promoted leagues with both Petersfield and Liphook suffering big losses. We catch up with the latest results from the Women's rams and also the Liphook Ladies. Petersfield Table Tennis club have their final pre-season preparations happening right now. We speak with captains who brought home the division 1 and 2 titles in the Haslemere league last season and get their thoughts on their ambitions for the next season https://www.petersfieldttclub.org.uk/

In the Sportlight 13th September

On Sunday 13 September the March for Men with Kev took place. It's a community walk held in honor of Kevan Birkett, who died from prostate cancer in May 2023.

Participants chose from three routes: 2.5K, 5K, or 10K. 

Mike Waddington and Julie Butler report from the event marshaling point in the Town Square - we hear from participants and why they are walking, from Town Mayor, Councillor Jamie Matthews and others.

Lastly we hear from Kev's partner Claire,

On the day before, 309 men took up the  Prostate health tests (PSA) organised by Petersfield Lions and PCaSO.

The march raises awareness and funds for:
Prostate Cancer UK – supporting research and PSA testing campaigns
PCaSO (Prostate Cancer Support Organisation) – providing local support for men with prostate cancer
The Rosemary Foundation – offering hospice-at-home care for those with life-limiting conditions
