Siobhain McCurrach is the Area Director for Healthwatch in Hampshire and Portsmouth. 

On Tuesday 10 December they held their Advisory Board meeting to hear about urgent and emergency care, especially the 111 System.

Siobhain speaks to Mike Waddington about being the independent voice for patients and how they make the patient voice heard.

Siobhan also talks about their planned visit to the new Q+A Emergency Department to feel that patient experience at a very busy time.

Healthwatch - the independent voice of patients

Christmas is a great time for families but if someone in yours has an eating disorder, Christmas can be a challenge.

Mel Flint, who runs the local support group PAUSE for the carers of people with an eating disorder, talks to Mike Waddington about how to plan to take food off its pedestal and having a happy Christmas with and for the whole family.

She told us that it is important, especially when someone is in recovery and coping with the changes that brings, that the person knows they are loved and they are safe.

The challenge of Christmas for People with Eating Disorders 

Long standing Petersfield charity, Homestart Butser, who support vulnerable families with children, raised £35,600 in one week, between the third and tenth of December.

Homestart Butser's Manager, Nicola Winter, told Mike Waddington about the campaign and praises the generosity of the community, which means the self-funded organisation can continue its work.
